pierced ears but no earrings: yay or nay?

Just out of curiosity at how things change, did everyone heal their piercings on the regular gold balls that are commonly used for piercings? When I had my earlobes done (early 70s) we took the posts out immediately and healed the ears on thin kidney-wires to make sure the hole was as small as possible. Some girls even went so far as to use silk thread to make sure the hole was tiny. (I don't know if any of this works or is just urban legend.) In my social group we mostly wore dangly earrings on kidney-wires and didn't want the hole showing around the tiny wires.

I have four piercings in each lobe with the first holes stretched to 00G. They have been for around seven years now. I do wear something in them at all times since I feel like it looks better. I have everything from silicone eyelets to carved opalite and horn and big blingy plugs. My other lobe piercings sometimes have jewelry or not. The holes are not so visible and sometimes it's a matter of comfort.

IME If you get your ears pierced in a piercing studio with a hollow needle, the holes won't show when you don't wear earrings.

The older I get, the more i love multiple piercings. I'm at an age where what other people think of me is none of my concern.

This is not always true. Mine were done that way and i can see the hole.

I am pierced but have increasing problems wearing earrings due to metal allergies. I am down to one pair I can wear for an hour or so before I have to take them out so most of the time I am earring free.

I have only "classic" holes for one pair of earrings. Most of the times I wear no earrings, I find it annoying to put them on and off all the time, and I can't sleep with jewelry.
As an ex model I've heard comments on everything, including my nails shape and feet))))) and never - not a word about holes in ears. I assume nobody notice it ever)
