1999 Barenia Haut à Courroies 32cm and 2005 Box calf White Bus 20cm. The White Bus is on its way to spa; the HAC is post-spa.
ETA: Realized that the White Bus technically doesn't count as "vintage" (>25 years), but it's a discontinued style and pretty rare in this size, so here it is

This HAC is what dreams are made of!

Hello everyone, this is my first Hermes bag and post in this forum

I recently purchased a 1997 Kelly 35 Retourne in Gulliver (Swift) from Japan! I've had her for about a week, but I held off from posting until I had the chance to get the bag authenticated by bababebi.

As you can see, the bag is very slouchy! Without a bag insert, she will collapse on herself in a puddle of pillowly leather. Because of the general loss of structural integrity, I got what I think is was pretty good price given the lack of glaring defects. The bag came with a shoulder strap, clochette, and functioning turnlock and padlock and zipper. No staining or weird smells on the interior either. The consignment store I purchased from also claimed that the bag has never been retouched or repainted.

Since there are scratches throughout the exterior of the bag, and some wear on the handle, I'm hoping to brinig this to the Hermes Spa for a glow-up. Hopefully, it won't require too much work and can be done locally!

Hi everyone!! I just got my hands on this Gold on Gold Courchevel Kelly 32 retourne and I could not be happier!!! I honestly thought I was going to get a Noir with GHW Kelly, but after many comparisons and holding both colours in my hands I ended up with the Gold..purely because I know it will suit my wardrobe more, and it really just had that special something. Perhaps I am changing and evolving to incorporating other neutrals other than black into my wardrobe. All I knew is that when I held her she was light, the leather was still soft and flexible, had her many "imperfections" which gives me the confidence that she wasn't repainted (according to the seller as well) and that I will wear her time and time again.

I am so grateful that my DH helped me to find this beauty in Tokyo, and after 16km of running around..we both knew she was it. So grateful that he is patient enough to go with my crazy antics.

Thanks for reading this little story, and I'm sure I will be styling this more in the future in other threads. xx
Oh, and adding another piece of eye candy I found when I was searching high and low for this piece ;)
Wow! Your Kelly is beautiful! And seeing a sterling silver mini Kelly is such a treat! May I ask where this was?

What do you think would be a fair price for a K40 from 1984 in black Ardennes; it’s doing well, hardware at the rings is tarnished/lookds rubbed off, otherwise quite alright.
It seems to be difficult to get direct answers on this question... I am not sure why .... apart that it would get very boring very quickly... but if you are new, it is interesting... watch auctions you will get a feel for prices, I paid 1.4k€ for a BBK from 70's... 2.7k€ for a VF Box Kelly from 90's ... black ardennes is a desirable combo for me...

I think „fair“ means something else to everyone- plus, even got vintage bags, you do not have a ton of data points for any given combo. „Fair“ for me is what you‘re willing to pay without feeling scammed i.e. a combo of „market price“ observations in a market with imperfect information and personal willingness to pay based upon personal preferences, spending power, patience etc. and this is quite different across people, in my experience. So, you try to derive a monetary value based upon two rather volatile variables across people.

I for one do not feel comfortable to give you a „fair“ price estimate even for combos that I look at quite frequently in the vintage market. Eg I would pay a premium for not having double d rings in a Kelly - others the other way round. I love a K from the 90s and would pay more for those on average that for a mid 2000 K. So, i don’t feel comfortable to give a „fair“ price estimate because it is heavily biased by my preferences and (limited) research.

I would not want someone to pass upon their dream bag, because I tell them that the price is not „fair“ (for me). This would be such a pity for me!

Plus, basically it is a lot of time that people spend to research the vintage market - you would not expect anyone to spill out all their hard-won knowledge to someone basically not willing to put at least some efforts in themselves? This is knowledge that you can obtain by putting a bit of effort in, it is information freely available by following various vintage platforms.

Probably a topic for the unpopular opinion thread.
