I absolutely agree, I asked because I tend to be stingy on preloved items on the one hand and prone to wanting to buy something because it seems to be a good deal :) but of course it is about what one feels comfortable spending just as much as what an item might be worth „objectively“.

I think „fair“ means something else to everyone- plus, even got vintage bags, you do not have a ton of data points for any given combo. „Fair“ for me is what you‘re willing to pay without feeling scammed i.e. a combo of „market price“ observations in a market with imperfect information and personal willingness to pay based upon personal preferences, spending power, patience etc. and this is quite different across people, in my experience. So, you try to derive a monetary value based upon two rather volatile variables across people.

I for one do not feel comfortable to give you a „fair“ price estimate even for combos that I look at quite frequently in the vintage market. Eg I would pay a premium for not having double d rings in a Kelly - others the other way round. I love a K from the 90s and would pay more for those on average that for a mid 2000 K. So, i don’t feel comfortable to give a „fair“ price estimate because it is heavily biased by my preferences and (limited) research.

I would not want someone to pass upon their dream bag, because I tell them that the price is not „fair“ (for me). This would be such a pity for me!

Plus, basically it is a lot of time that people spend to research the vintage market - you would not expect anyone to spill out all their hard-won knowledge to someone basically not willing to put at least some efforts in themselves? This is knowledge that you can obtain by putting a bit of effort in, it is information freely available by following various vintage platforms.

Probably a topic for the unpopular opinion thread.
Not „unpopular opinion“ at all - you are so right!

1999 Barenia Haut à Courroies 32cm and 2005 Box calf White Bus 20cm. The White Bus is on its way to spa; the HAC is post-spa.
ETA: Realized that the White Bus technically doesn't count as "vintage" (>25 years), but it's a discontinued style and pretty rare in this size, so here it is

I actually have the same Whitebus. I have used it a few times and then I simply use it for doggie photo shoot as it is the correct size for my girl.

I can’t post a photo right now as I am flying over the big pond and the inflight WiFi is spotty.

Less than perfect vintage describes pretty much all of my bags, so I feel like I owe this forum a lot of content  this Vasco is from 1980. I think it is Rouge H and in box, but I'm not certain. It got it for a steal because it does have some pretty significant cracks and scratching. I'll take it to the spa eventually, but it honestly doesn't bother me too much. Bags are meant to be used!vintage.jpgcrack.jpgscratch.jpg

I recently purchased a vintage croc Kelly 32 circa 90s and the interior zipper is a bit stubborn. Does anyone have any idea/similar experience if H Spa is able to fix (or replace) the zipper and the cost and turnaround time?

Cross posted from the identify color/leather/design thread…now that it’s officially authenticated by BBBB as such. 1994 “Medor” shoulder bag in black box leather. Bought from a reputable Japanese eBay seller. On my inspection it seemed authentic but also had it authenticated by BBBB to be sure. Unfortunately I don’t know the official name of this bag and haven’t seen this design online despite scouring this forum and general google search. Hoping H aficionados and OGs that might even have access to the old catalogs or have seen this design can chime in! I love learning about the history and tid bits about the bags! Thank you in advance!

I don’t know the name of this bag, but just wanted to say this is such a beautiful bag!! In my humble opinion this is more beautiful than the Constance without the giant H buckle. I hope you enjoy the bag in good health!!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I agree with you, I love the under the radar hardware and the convertible shoulder strap as well! It’s so under the radar that it’s name will likely forever be a mystery

Cute Bag! The Lydie ist shaped like an envelope... and the 2002 has a shoulder strap fastened like yours and a similar shape on the side, and also a cute buckle. From which year is your bag? I think some styles where only produced for certain markets... 🤷🏻‍♀️ I like finding Infos like this... there used to be black and white catalog pages with vintage styles and bag names in this forum... cannot find the pages anymore... good luck. Enjoy your bag!

Thank you. I will take it there tomorrow. I have another piece that came back from the spa. I will certainly update you all with the results with prices. Thank you!
So after 9 months in Paris, I finally received the purse back with new handles, tabs, all new hardware, cleaned and conditioned. They threw in the spa for free since there was extensive work. They also restitched a top stitch for free. Side plates replaced for $100. Tourest clasp replaced for $210 (turn lock), handles, chapes, rings and flap plates $1150. Total $1460. Not bad for the amount of work done. Hope it helps. I was told that the same work will now be about $2000 but since I was quoted so long ago, before the price increase for spa, they honored the initial quote. I have a second vintage kelly 28 also in the spa for practically the same things except no hardware replacement time.
