Thank you! I took it to the spa for repair (Madison, I’m in NYC) and they sent it to Paris because it needed a lot of work. I was so happy when it came back with a new strap, hardware and stains removed.

I’m not exactly sure of the year and I can’t find a stamp to tell me for sure but would guess it’s late 1990’s or very early aughts.

That is awesome! The sheen on the courchevel of this bag is beautiful. May I ask approximately how much the spa treatment cost?

Dear all,

I just came across a beautiful black box kelly 35 with GHW from 2003 and wondered whether or not to buy it. They seem to really rare in the boutiques nowadays in this large size.

Reason is that the strap is missing, everything else is in place and (according to description and pictures) in a really good shape. I would assume that Hermes has enough black box leather in store to be able to make a new strap for me, would you agree? How much would that be app? I am in Europe.

Thank you all in advance for your much appreciated help in this!

Depends on if you have a good sales associate or not. I have ordered a Rouge H Strap for a vintage kelly recently. It was around 800€. After mentioning that they had made it too long, and not the lenght i ordered, they said that it was a mistake anyway to make a strap for that price, and they usually charge 3000€. I don‘t believe it. 800€ seems reasonable compared to a constance strap replacement which costs only 400€! Only difference is the clasps at the end. But Hermès internal communication seems very dodgy. You can try and maybe they‘ll make you one, but its a different experience for everyone. I hate that they are never consistent with what they can do and what they charge! I have spad at least 5-10 bags so far and the charges were always different for the same tasks! Weird!

I
good classic bags like that - a little larger than is fashionable at the moment - can be the best bargains of the moment
especially if well cared-for and good patina development

it has a double ring?
I wouldn't worry about a matching strap (approx 1000 $£€)
there are so many acceptable alternatives nowadays

Thank you much appreciated! It has a double ring and looks like it has not even really started to develop a patina, seems to have been worn a couple of times as the hardware is slightly scratched.

That is really weird indeed! thank you for sharing!

I have a great SA and they did a quite some work on my vintage pieces at very reasonable prices so far but it was never necessary to replace hardware or a strap or so. They seem to appreciate my preferences for heritage leathers, also in the offers for new bags that I get.

Let’s see… I am tending towards buying it, esp as I can also return it, just in case.

Does anyone know the value of a mini vintage Hermès loto bag ?

Below is some price information from Collector Square. It does not distinguish between size, condition, color or leather when giving these prices, so you'll have to extrapolate based on this data.

And now, to keep this post on topic, here are some photos of my beautiful vintage boxcalf Pullman (black):

I had never seen this bag in person, but every time I saw photos of it, I just loved it. When I finally decided to buy this one from an online site, I was surprised how small it was. Nevertheless I love its shape, the frame with clasp, and its beautiful vintage look.
