Any updates on what you decided ?

I had contacted that SA and expressed my disappointment and told her I didn't want the bag anymore; and that I didn't think asking for a store credit to get something I wouldn't have to wait a cumulative 6 months for was asking for the moon;

She told me it had been "moved to the front of the line" and was already on it's way from France to Vancouver, and that I should have it in 2 weeks after-all.

I told her if I didn't have it in 2 weeks I would be getting my credit card to reverse the payment.

She said she totally understands.... She did get defensive and try the "but it's a custom item" etc etc... A custom item that I've never heard of anyone (except me) waiting 10 weeks for....

Anyhow, I'll keep you guys updated. I was so set on getting an exchange though that now I'm just bitter.

I think if it gets worse I will- I'm really thinking that this is wear and tear and not a problem with the paint. It isn't chipping and peeling, it's just rubbing off in little spots- I'm not babying it at all. I'm on vacation, and it's the only bag I've brought. It's been to the pool every day, on the floor of airplanes, to the beach etc... So I really think that it's just rubbing off in little spots from being on rough surfaces etc...

The other bags I've seen with big chips on the front is definitely a quality issue, but mine is probably my fault! lol

Still wondering how bad it will get...it's 2 months old, now..the paint should be completely rubbed off the bottom in a few years.. :p

In my opinion, no product that's in this high of a price bracket should have wear and tear after 2 months.

But I envy you that you don't sweat it... I'm paranoid about the new one I'll be getting.

Probably gonna sit on a shelf and never be used to be honest :shucks:

Wondering if the Kusama polka dots might rub off like the mon mono letters and stripes do.......

Yes they will. I specifically asked my SA about this. She said it should not be an every day bag and that they will rub off like the stripes in the rayeurs did.

I didn't know the rayeurs stripes rubbed off too! I was considering a kusama speedy, but no thanks if it will chip.

Depends on how it's cared for. My Rayure Neverfull GM has no chipping at all. Your painted pieces come with a little booklet on care. Plus my SA told me do not let it have exposure to long periods in the sun. Treat it carefully. So even though my Rayure went to Mexico with me, I didn't take it to the pool. Hope this helps. Don't be afraid of the painted pieces. They are beautiful just be aware they aren't a knock around bag like a regular canvas one.

Agree ! It's how it's been cared . I saw a
lot how they throw bags on the ground and
of course not to baby bag but not to trash
it either . Mine just came in after reading all
these chipping . I was hesitant at first but
I know I'll be ok :D

I have a Rayures Neverfull and have had NO problems with it. I have not been particularly careful with it. It has been carried almost daily for a while now.

Hello All!

I have been lusting after a Mon Mono Speedy for a good long time and have recently just let it sit in my "Wishlist" on the LV site for now...I'm hoping to get it for Christmas or my birthday next year but now that I've read this entire thread, I'm a little apprehensive about having an issue with it! As it is, I have a Groom wallet that has some chipping now (although I've used it daily, however, since it was bought approximately six years ago or thereabouts).

Upon browsing at one of our LV boutiques, I decided to ask an SA if anything could be done with regards to fixing the red and white and she took it to the back--seemed surprised that it had been that well taken care of--and still said she didn't think anything could be done.

I was a bit disappointed, but now that I want the Mon Mono I'm wondering if the same will also happen, even with not too much wear--such as in this thread!

I'm sorry to see you're having problems, trumanfinn. I can't believe this! I thought that Mon Monogram products were NOT silkscreened, but rather the designs are set under the top layer of the canvas coating thus eliminating these chipping problems? A Mon Mono is on my extended wish list - but I don't want to invest in one if it's going to chip and peel like the Groom, Trunks & Bags or Illustration lines are know to do! Can anyone shed any light on this? I'm genuinely shocked, I've never heard any complaints of this soft relating to Mon Mono before!

What!? Not exposed to long periods in the sun?! Oh no, this might rule it out for me - I'm in Australia - heaps of sunshine...

LV does coat the canvas after they paint the stripes/initials on but I think maybe over the last year they're putting a thinner layer of that protective coating on. IDK--I'm just speculating.....I've had mine almost a year and so far no chipping and I've also had mine in the blaring sun as I'm walking around or just sitting in the car next to me. I haven't man-handled my bag but I definitely haven't "babied" it as much as I should have. (In fact, my DE NF which is newer and used much less and totally babied already cracked and peeled. But that's a different issue!)

I know LV is cutting corners everywhere so maybe they're doing it with the protective coating too. I wonder if any other members who have had their mon mono for a year or more have the same chipping problems.
