My ring (when i wear it) gets alot of attention. Its 4.1ct solitare hearts on fire, ideal cut, gia, vvs, G, Brillant cut.
One of my friend aways says when on the phone, "I'm here with VLL & her damn diamond is blinding me. Please put you hand down, VLL." Then she'll say "wear your ring we want the attention". We were in a restaurant & the lights went out, she was telling people to just follow us, I had a ring that could lead us all out. "Moses couldn't of been so lucky." Yeah, she is a smart a$$! lol (Should hear how she first saw me at health club & how she just had to be friends with 'those hips & legs'~22 years ago LOL.)

In this economy I'm beginning to get nervous about wearing my jewelry. I live in the city and take public transportation to and from work. Sometimes when I go out with friends afterwork and it is late I get very uncomfortable wearing my bigger pieces. Once some kids asked my if my bracelet was real and I said no. I think you just have to be very alert during these times.

I don't think you should wear large jewelry if you don't want people staring at it. The point of jewelry is to be appealing decoration. If you are so uncomfortable, it's best to stick with something simple and plain that won't catch people's eyes.

I'm just getting a honker (for me anyway. I have pretty skinny fingers, size 6) as a right hand ring for 2nd anniversary from my sweetie DH. My e-ring was an 8ct natural blue sapphire (it's about 11mm by 8mm cushion to give you a size) so I wanted a diamond too and he's really spoiling me, which is nice of him. This thread's making me nervous now though. I'm getting in the 2.5ct range, but maybe I should back off a bit? I'm looking at stones this week...... I was so excited, but now I'm nervous. I live in a VERY safe small town, but it's also economically depressed beyond the national average.

People do make weird comments sometimes about my sapphire- everything from wow, he must be rich to what he couldn't afford a diamond so you just got that thing? LOL:p That last comment was my personal favorite. DH just laughed when I told him.

I couldn't help stare at my friend's mom's huge diamond stud earrings. They must be 3-carats each. I just stare because I find it beautiful and last time I commented on how beautiful it was. I hope she didn't feel uncomfortable, I was simply admiring.

Just do like I do and tell everyone you decided to wear your 401K!:p Everyone laughs and then the tension is gone.
