Hi Ladies,

I always stare at rings. Not to be catty and judgmental but just because I LOVE jewelry and I like to find out about ring specs and learn more about diamonds. I also love big rings but I have small hands and a big ring would look kinda obnoxious on me. But I love seeing others w/ ginormous rings. I love finding vintage rings or ones that have unique designs. I always smile at the person and say: nice ring or something. But I hope I don't make anyone uncomfortable.

I say flaunt it in a safe way!

LOL I am like this too!!! However sometimes the attention can be inappropriate! I do love admiring all types of jewelry, however, I would never reach out and actually try to take off someone's ring!!! Although I suppose we women cant help but stare at bling, its in our blood! Women love the sparkles & bling!!

Lady V, I also don't like my hand being grabbed by strangers when I'm alone because with the economy being like it is who knows what some individuals intentions may be... I have a friend who was robbed in a grocery parking lot in broad daylight!!!! All the guy took was her ring which was an 8ct diamond, she remembers haven seen the guy inside the grocery store when she was shopping which probably means the guy was scoping her out after seeing her ring!!!!

Funny you mention the grocery store-I always feel like my e-ring is so "exposed" when I'm rollin' the cart around & I really dont like it. It depends on my mood but sometimes I'll turn it around. I'm never really paying attention to people in the store (mostly food!) :D & I'd rather not have to think about it. Sorry this happened to your friend!

I dont have a large engagement ring, but ive had similar experiences with some gemstone rings, this one in particular I have no clue why draws so much attention! It'a 10 carat blue topaz- no diamonds just a big pear cut in white metal. anyways Ive been asked at grocery stores if people could try it on, how much it was, and i had one cashier ask me if I got my ring from claires!! lol i was like uhhhh no and just walked away:angel::shrugs:

Honestly, I kept staring at my own engagement ring when we were first engaged so much so that I almost had several traffic accidents (embarrassing, huh?). Large, sparkly things should come with warning labels! Of course, I was also thrilled out of my mind to be marrying the love of my life so I had a good excuse :p

I wear my eternity band in lieu of my engagement ring on my left hand when I don't want to draw too much attention to myself (it's usually on my right hand when I have my engagement ring on & if I'm not wearing a cocktail ring). I know my engagement ring diamond is large & large diamonds garner attention - wanted and/or unwanted.

I don't think I stare at other women's hands, but I do admit that I check out their jewelry discreetly (I hope). I can't help it - I'm like a myna attracted to sparkly pretty things.

I wonder if in this economy maybe in more public places where one should be cautious... About 2 years ago I received my Grandmother's ER and I've been too nervous to wear it. Maybe I just need to find a party to go to!!!:graucho:
