I find that buying glass beads from self-representing artists (SRA) is the way to go with glass beads. The selection is staggering. There are a couple on eBay that have high quality beads and a few more on Etsy. They are larger and often they will custom make beads for you. I mix them with my silver and gold from Trollbeads and Pandora and it's stunning. I never make up a bracelet and keep it that way permanently, but rather build one the night before to match my outfit the next day. There is great fun in doing all that and searching for beads from all over the world. I still buy Trollbeads glassbeads if one really impresses me.

Be careful, however, when buying directly from artists and buy one bead from them first to see their quality. I've eliminated quite a few artists due to sloppy workmanship. There are too many quality artists to mess with someone who doesn't pride themselves in their work.

I've never been a fan of pandora jewelry... sorry... just thought they looked a bit cheap... :wondering

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion. I didn't get the craze until last fall when I explored all the options. Never liked charm bracelets at all until I saw how you could daily customize the look. I don't like everyone's style with these bracelets, but that is what is nice about them...you pick the type of beads you like.

I have thousands of dollars of diamonds and different types of tennis bracelets, but I have to say that I enjoy the fun of bead bracelets to break up the monotony. But each to their own!

Lol that's a new one on me! :confused1: I TOTALLY disagree... as far as charm bracelets go I think Pandora is top of the line.

I particularly love how versatile mine is... I wear it all the time and it works just as well with evening wear as it does during the day. And it does wonders to dress up jeans and a tank top )

I even (kind of accidentally) ended up wearing it on a bush walk the other day :P :wlae:

(See the cliff below the rock formations? We walked all the way down to the bottom. You can't even see it in this pic !)

I'm a pretty fussy jewelry person. I like contemporary styles and not a bunch of fussy detail. But when it comes to these bracelets, I can go wild! However, I think the key to a great-looking bracelet is one with a theme or that it coordinates with your wardrobe. Every night when I lay out my clothes for the next day, I put together my bracelet. Some are stunning and bold, while others are subdued and in a more monochromatic theme (all same color hues). Some have glass beads while others more high-end gold/silver with gemstones.

The nail tech I use has always told me that she isn't a fan cuz they are too big and clunky. However, one day I wore a black/red/silver/gold theme and she couldn't keep her eyes off it. But wear what you like.. I enjoy the pursuit of awesome beads as much as wearing them!

I would LOVE to see more of your completed bracelets... I think we need a pic-a-day blog from you!

I was just bored on a rainy day so I decided to try and get some better photos of mine. Unfortunately I can't quite figure out the best lighting :cursing:... any ideas? you need some light for it but if you get direct light or too much light the beads just reflect

OMG I have just discovered these bracelets in our local jeweller and have fallen in love, then I come on tPF and find a whole thread on them.......it must mean that the planets have aligned and it is a sign that I just have to start my own, but they are so expensive in the gold and I only wear gold . Oh well DH will never know.

Thanks ladies after going through this thread the pics have been gorgeous!
