NEWS from today!!! :-)
At 1 of the Hermes stores in my city:

* A really young couple said to the SA: 'I don't have an appointment but is it possible to try on a Birkin 30 and 35 just to try for size and not to purchase?''
* A very snobbish looking couple saw the young couple trying 2 bags for size. They started getting really close to them and talked loudly 'oh, these bags are too 'mature' for you, you should look for a younger looking bag'.-------the young couple just nodded and smile (eyes showed that they are smiling)....then the snobbish couple kept staring at them and want them to put down the 2 bags,,,then said 'I will buy them'.
They were so loud that it started looking like intimidation.....
* young couple were annoyed and the bf/husband told the young lady 'let's just get both' (as a joke)
* The snobbish couple started screaming!!!!!!! and ran to their SA who came back with some boxes and said 'You said NO Birkin????? why are they buying 2!!!!!!' so loud that everyone on that floor stared at them...I was just 5 feet away.....
* Then the young couple thanked their SA for letting them try on bags and walked out giggling!!!
LOL I wish I can film that. the snobbish couple were fuming and screaming and the lady almost ripped off her mask and wanted to throw things on the floor.

Kudos to the young couple for playing it cool, and having a good laugh at that crazy couple's expense. I'd call that Level 50 troll-style...and those snobs deserved it!

At what point are boutiques going to start banning people for this kind of behavior? Screaming, throwing tantrums...INTIMIDATING other customers (and employees)? In my industry - which also "serves" the public - we call security on them. And sometimes, the police. It doesn't matter how much money they have... out the door you go sir/madam!

I was at the Wynn Plaza for the first time several months ago with two other friends. We each had a B or K. We made an appointment to see the new store. If you aren't already aware of its layout, it has two floors with RTW and shoes upstairs. There was already a mother (M) and daughter (D) talking to an SA in the store.

Our SA let us in and we did our browsing in various sections of the store and I noticed M & D eyeing us. I then realized that D was carrying a very obviously fake Kelly. It was so bad you could tell from 20ft away that it was fake. M was kind of loud too and I overheard this snippet.

M: WELL HOW DO YOU GET ONE?
SA: You have to build a profile.

My friends and I didn't say anything to each other as we were all concentrating on the eye candy in the store. It has a gorgeous private room, btw!
Then we made our way upstairs. M & D came upstairs too and M pointed out my K to the daughter.

M: LOOK AT THAT!
D: I WANT ONE!
Me: *holds bag a little closer*

Somehow we all left the 2nd floor at the same time when we spotted a delivery guy rolling a cart of big H bags into the store.
D: Look look!!
M to SA: HEY LOOK AT THAT. IS THAT A BAG SHIPMENT?
SA (embarrassed but keeping his politeness): No, I don't think so. It would be in boxes instead of bags.

After we left we did have a good laugh about all of it.

I am not sure if this counts as overheard, but I had a great conversation with a very chic woman as we both waited with our beverages at FSH. I rarely go to FSH now as it feels impersonal and Sèvres is a 3 minute walk from my flat, but I am so glad I went today. I happened to be waiting in the men’s department next to this older woman. Soon we began talking about Hermes to pass time. Her grandfather was close friends with the Hermes family. At that time, Hermes was exclusively catering to the equestrian clientele. It was very different she told me. Much had changed from that time, and it was fascinating to have a conversation with a woman who had grown up and known Hermes over the years. Her family and Hermes had a long history that went beyond merely products but friendship. FSH felt personal again through the conversations and stories that occur only there. It was definitely special and a pure joy to learn more about her life and Hermes as a brand and family.

got goosebumps from this - treasure this kind of experience.
You can consider yourself to be very lucky to be living in Europe, and so close to FSH and can chat casually while waiting for coffee to a such storied woman.

Sorry, but you are incorrect. You are buying it from the boutique, and only if the manager is willing to have the SA offer it to you. There are exceptions to every rule, but “the relationship” is much more in the heads of the customers than it is in the heads of the staff. Most SAs do not receive commission for the sale of a quota bag, so it is in their best interest to have customers buy other stuff and then offer a quota bag afterwords. But this isn’t done without the approval of someone higher up the chain.

It’s not really a game, it’s sales. We have veered off topic though, so please back to boutique observations.
This is100% correct

My BFF and I were shopping together at her local store (we don’t live in the same state, I was visiting). I had my B30, she had her vintage K32.

A woman shopping close by:

Customer: I’ll take either one of the bags they are carrying.

SA: politely told her they didn’t have either of those bags.

Customer: What bags DO you have?

SA shows her Lindy and Bolide which are in cases nearby.

Customer: Those are UGLY!

my BFF and I looked at each other and giggled. Meanwhile, my Bolide is my favorite bag! So understated and comfortable!
