I feel like Oprah will stay on for the long haul, risks be damned.
For sure. Plus she is in a special situation. She has a private doctor and access to the best healthcare has to offer.
So if something goes wrong, it can be remedied.
Meanwhile, any other person has to wait for diagnostics and an appointment. It makes all the difference, imo.
In addition, even if there are serious risks at 70 years old, she has a 30 years expectancy in the best case scenario.
It is different for a twenty years old person, imo.
Anyways, she is smart enough to know what she is doing.

This comment on the NYTIMES reader letters sum it up perfectly

I’ve always been a big Oprah Winfrey fan and understand her reasons for going all out in the hopes of shedding light on obesity as a disease and on the cost of drugs. But it is important to remember these three points:

1. A person must stay on these drugs for life or it is highly likely he or she will put the weight back on (a nice bonus for Big Pharma).

2. Where are the long-term studies of the safety/health of the body for lifelong use? There are none, since no one has taken these drugs for that long.

3. The side effects to achieving weight loss with these drugs sometimes make the dieter feel miserable enough to come off them. Then what? Go back on again? We already know yo-yo dieting is harmful to the body.

Ozempic can perhaps be a lifesaver for morbidly obese people, but it appears it is also being used on people who shouldn't qualify for it.

A lifelong medication is a big commitment, and in the case of Ozempic, most insurance companies do not cover it for weight loss. Those weekly injections aren't cheap, but that's not a problem for Oprah.

I don't think Gayle has a thread so since this wedding was at Oprah's home, I'm posting this here. Look like a lovely couple

it's nice when you have a fabulously rich auntie who adores you and has amazing properties to get married. so many to choose from!

I'm a bit confused about the wedding being just for family...wonder how many people were there.

the only time I have known people to do just family is because they go to the courthouse so room is limited and then they have the big party/reception after. I can't imagine what the reason would be other than they just wanted it that way of course.

it just doesn't seem like a very small wedding to me...but I suppose you can have a beautiful gown and fireworks with a small number of people....or they have a large family....or "family" includes those they are close to and call "family"
