Nearly all of Hollywood sucked up to Harvey and they would still be doing it today if the story hadn't blown up last fall. I hope everyone realizes that many of the most respected celebrities knew and never said a word. One celeb doesn't have any moral high ground over another now that it's fashionable (and therefore safe) to be vocal about it.
It's funny how no one is talking about the female celebrities who did participate to further their careers. Not everyone said no...

Exactly. This is why I can't take most of these people seriously and why I do not understand fandom.

I can understand why they wouldn't be talking about them. The casting couch is the way business has been conducted in the entertainment industry for a long time. There's nothing to be gained now in shaming those women who made the decision to go along in order to get a choice movie role or contract.

But, they shouldn't be taking the morale high ground now either. Not all the women agreed to it and it hurt their careers. It's the hypocrisy of the ones who did and I am sure there were plenty.

^ Hollywood is Hollywood what you gonna do?

A lot of what they’re doing has to do with all kinds of frustrations. I don’t include Oprah in this grouping though, she’s lived a remarkable life she can do whatever she damn well likes.

Seals post seems sloppy, what’s the bet some of it was motivated by resentment towards his ex. People just aren’t rational creatures especially performers.

I’m not going to waste time parsing the guilt of every individual not when there are bigger scarier things on the horizon. It’s like wondering why the paint is flaking off the wall while your house is on fire.

None of us know the exact circumstances, it’s easy to point to hypocrisy from afar.

Arghh never mind... Lol I have a point to this and how it relates to the topic at hand but it’s going to take too long to type and my phone is malfunctioning. Ignore this and carry on.

If you look over the course of anyone's life, we've all been hypocrites at some point. If you look at women in the work world, sometimes we're no better and play along when a male co-worker says something off color or does something that isn't physically harmful towards women but harassment all the same. We let it go, call him a sleazy and then gossip about him behind his back....or worse, we "warn" other female co-workers by saying things like "he's sleazy, you know how some men are?!" The woman who call out his behavior suffers. So for everyone coming down on Oprah or whoever in hollywood, I'd hope they don't have one moment in their life where they pandered a bit to a slimeball because they didn't want the backlash, professionally, socially, etc.

But were they really in a position to say no? In an actual position of power to say no? Most likely not. It's easy to criticise the women who did have sex with him but if they felt that was their only choice is it really any less of a sexual assault? They may have consented reluctantly which I personally don't believe is true consent.

But they may have been women who really were happy to and that's their choice. Nothing really to talk about if it's sex between two consenting adults.

Anyway, I stumbled into the Oprah thread as I wanted to see how many people actually think she will run for president??

There is a difference of rape and someone saying yes to further their career. It's not even in the same category.

Agree, we all have some hypocrisy but IMHO sleeping with someone for the sole purpose of getting a promotion, movie deal etc . and then becomes outraged (sues etc.) after the slimeball is caught to me they are the same person and takes it to a new level.

The pictures of the celebrities practically throwing themselves at him.....uggg.

Again, we are talking apples and oranges. I agree with you, but that is not was I was referring to.

Im not entirely sure how it's apples and oranges. Forced sexed is forced sexed. I remember reading something about one of the actress who did have some kind of sexual interaction with him who said she felt scared. Scared that if she didn't, he'd rape her. That's an extreme example. But if he said to some girl, sleep with me or you will never work in Hollywood and that was her dream, her income and she said a reluctant yes... I still consider that assault. Not true consent.

Now if the actress happily said hell yeah I'll sleep with you, entirely different!
