Why does she wait until she's 40 lbs heavier to realize that she got issue with weight. For me if I'm 5 lbs heavier or 5lbs lighter I will start my work out routine (I do work out heavily in order to gain weight) or eat slightly less or slightly more than within one month you're back to normal, because i can feel it the moment your cloth doesn't fit nicely. Can't afford to buy new size of clothing every time you gain weight of lose weight.

oprah sure can

I'm shocked at the irritation that some people are showing towards her decision to admit that she has gained weight again (and I'm not just talking about some people on here, I mean the public in general). I don't see anything wrong with it. If you don't want to hear about it, ignore it. I think because she has always been so open and candid about her weight issues, she had no reason to believe it would be a problem this time around.

Personally, I'm not irritated by her. I just think that its really okay for her not to talk about this. Me, I can't imagine WANTING to publicly talk about this, let alone multiple times. She doesn't have to put herself though this! llol. I don't think people are really THAT judgmental that they would demand her to speak up about it. Its almost like she feels like she has to answer to the voyuers and gossip mongers about what is going on. People already know this is an issue she has - she's done it before. NOW she doesn't have to answer to anyone, let alone with shame. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

In terms of profitting from this... I don't think SHE is aiming to make money from this, she already makes an insane amount. Its the OTHER people who will see this as their "chance" to make buck in the industry. Diets, cleanses, chefs...

I swear this is a publicity stunt. Now we will all be watching her lose weight and that will be an added 10 shows about how she did it again etc. I swear her agent tells her "gain some weight so we have something to talk about again."

I agree....I read somewhere that her rating's are down and Ellen is kicking her generous sized butt. :smile1:

You know, ......these celebs all have agents.......who make money off these celebs......this is probably all for publicity and someone other than Oprah will be making tons of money off this concept.......and it keeps America occupied for 15 minutes....

She recently did a 3 week vegan/very restrictive "cleanse" - that was definitely a fad diet. In my opinion, she still hasn't learned to "live healthily" and instead binges for a few months/years, then panics at the scale and goes on radical diets. She needs to change her lifestyle: 90% healthy and 10% a few treats to keep it palatable.

^ Yeah memory, I totally agree with you when it comes to live healthy. Living healthy is not about fad diet and hitting the gym every day. It's about having a balance life. It's all right to indulge in food that you love every now and then, just don't go overboard with it. Even if you eat 80% healthy and 20% treats, you'll still be ok plus moderately exercise 3 times a week. It's more sustainable in a long run. It's not healthy to let your body weight fluctuate so often. Your heart will suffer with too often fluctuation of body weight.

I agree that she can't blame the tyroid problem. I was diagnosed with that recently, I had gained about 8 - 10 lbs. The meds get you to the right levels within a month.
Again it's really an individual thing. I have two friends with thyroid problems and they gained a LOT of weight. They are both on medication and everything still isn't regulated. So yeah, Oprah can blame it on the thyroid because that is plausible.

You know, I was thinking. For such a driven successful woman, she CERTAINLY doesn't seem lazy or like she doesn't give everything her all. Just look at her and what she has made of herself. Compared to everything she is capable of, maintaining weight doesn't seem like such a hard thing. Yet she seems to have some trouble with it. Doesn't jive quite right. So I totally believe that she might have issues outside of the regular eat too much don't move enough thing..

This is absolutely the truth! I don't have a thyroid, have to take meds daily and its a constant to try and not gain weight and even worse to try and lose weight. I feel for Oprah, myself and anyone else to has to deal with this as well, especially since being overweight these days is akin to being a lazy, child-molesting, murdering oink. :confused1:

HAHAHA too funny.

But seriously, what would you think if she decided to have plastic surgery and have it all sucked off? Would that be better?? I can't decide.

I know it is weird. She seems like she can control everything else in her life.

Boy, I don't disagree with you. Ironic that it happens that she came out with her 'announcement' right at the beginning of the year, when EVERYONE is focused on weight loss. I had an issue of O Mag on my bathroom floor that was like two months old. One of the teasers was 'You don't have to be thin to look good'. Kind of hyprocritical if you ask me.
