Opinion needed please ... Barenia Birkin dilemma ... new home or keep?

I have a couple of smooth barenia bags (not B), and though they are not brought out that often, I love them each and every time I do. I have no intention of selling them even if rarely used. But I understand the hesitation of selling, and wondering the what ifs. It's part of the dance, the dreaming, the search, the acquisition, the pairings, and the occasional goodbye. I'm with those that say why sell if you are not completely sure? Unless it's for funds or space, I would just hang on to them and see if you can't find a way to incorporate it into your wardrobe.

And also remember, you are posting on a site of enthusiasts. Most will tell you to keep!

i don’t understand how a natural leather bag could not go with anything....to me the only possible questionable match might be head to toe black, which calls for a black bag or perhaps a color pop.

I beg to differ! Fauve looks so good with an all-black outfit, it is like a pop of color without being one.

Sorry for my late reply, I have thought about it for a long time and talked to my husband and daughter ( she is 25 ) what is their personal opinion on selling or keeping the Barenia B .

My DH has the opinion that I should definitely keep it, because it is a Heritag leather and a work of art that I will very certainly never get again as a new bag.

The opposite is the opinion of my daughter, since I wear the bag only once a year at most, I should sell it better.
Someone else may have more joy to wear them, it would be too sad to leave them in the closet.
Of course she also thinks about the money should I decide to sell.


I have never sold a bag, I would not know at all where I could sell them except maybe at VC since I live in Europe.
And what it's worth I can't really judge, because there are none on the market as far as I've seen.

crazy but i am just as undecided what to do.
Normally I always know exactly what I want but not in this particular case.

If I was, what’d say is, look mum, it is true you don‘t wear this bag much, so why don’t we just keep it in my closet and once a year you can pass by and pick it up .

No, but seriously. I understand the urge to let go of things we don’t use. Also the joys of treasuring stuff because it is beautiful and makes us happy... I think what you need to work out is whether you are hanging on to this Birkin because you feel you should, that it is the right thing to do, so as if an obligation... There is no joy in that.

It is not understandable for many of you and I know that Barenia is extremely special, also for me and it is not easy for me, but since I only wore her once a year, I decided for a certain reason.

My son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter have bought a beautiful old house after a long search and I would like to support them with the proceeds from the sale of the Barenia.

For me, this is now a good reason to let them go to a new home.

Totally understandable I have bags sitting in my closet for ages unused and I have let go of few (non Hermes) only you can make justification of what to keep or not regardless of the reason(s).

Congrats kelly7heaven on making the decision to sell! And to sell so you can gift the funds to your son, daughter-in-law and grandkid so they can put towards a home they were searching for a long time is such a wonderful and worthy cause! And if you add to that the fact that you already stated that you don't tend to regret things once you've decided and that you much prefer kellys anyways, this sounds like the right choice for you. I am glad you had lots of different suggestions to consider and that you really took care in deciding what's right for you.

I understand and support your decision. IMO, I think the happiness you will experience will dwarf the experience of carrying a bag, no matter how beautiful, a couple of times a year....

Hello dear Hermes lovers,

I have a little dilemma ...I`ve owend an HG Natural Barenia Birkin....for five years now and I do in fact love it dearly.
But in the first year I wore it about 4 times and since then only once a year, so basically it´s napping for 354 days a year in its little box in the closet.
I always use my handbags in turns, because I think they are created for that.

Although it´s a work of art that is infinitely beautiful and I´m aware that it´s an amazing bag that is extremely rare, I´ve found that it simply doesn´t match my clothing.
That´s why I´ve been Struggling for over half a year whether to give her to a new home or not ?


My fear is that one day I would regret having given her away.

Please tell me your opinion, I just can't make up my mind and maybe your opinion will help me.

If money is an issue, sell it. Otherwise, keep it until you know for sure what you want to do with it.
