@kelly7heaven, I suggest playing with it as a pop of color. I just started wearing my gold swift 30B and 35 fauve barenia trim II that way, and they are suddenly more wardrobe friendly esp. with phw or brushed palladium hw. (Although after decades of matching jewelry to hw, DH and my jeweler think pg or yg is more youthful and modern on me, so now I mix metals. . .

IMO coordinating the fauve barenia or gold swift with a scarf plus a contrasting color like blue is traditional sartorial, but I think using the gold or fauve as a solo pop is more edgy fashion. (At least, as edgy as a 30B can be). For example, the first pic is a combo of dark neutral color: Wolford leggings in midnight blue and navy tunic top; charcoal gray Brunello cardigan; and, 21P chanel black boucle jacket.

To those TPfers who feel that brown bag should have brown shoes, my brunello SA advised me that a crisp white sneaker goes with everything.

And, an archived shot from ten years ago with gold Togo TGM picotin (now in my moms closet). I’m tired Of small bags, so I may ask to borrow it back

a few thoughts:

if your bag is pristine, the time to sell it is now as once it’s patina’ed, you will not recover anything close to the retail price.

this bag will never be easy to get, there’s just not enough leather in large enough hides (plenty in small pieces). You’d be stuck with resale and someone else’s patina to buy it back

i don’t understand how a natural leather bag could not go with anything....to me the only possible questionable match might be head to toe black, which calls for a black bag or perhaps a color pop.

i love my Barenia Birkin, I hate what I paid, but I will never let it go. It’s not my most used bag at all. But it is a forever classic, and will be one when I’m 80. Probably when my daughter is 80, if we are careful. so to me it is an essential part of a collection.

You look superb as always! and I'm loving the Picotin TGM are they discontinued?
You're a bad influence! your choice of bags always opens my eyes to different H designs because you wear them so well.

Thank you so much @maxroxxherhandbags for your kind words! I think the TGM picotin is discontinued, but I have seen them on the resale market for reasonable prices. Hugs

Sorry for my late reply, I have thought about it for a long time and talked to my husband and daughter ( she is 25 ) what is their personal opinion on selling or keeping the Barenia B .

My DH has the opinion that I should definitely keep it, because it is a Heritag leather and a work of art that I will very certainly never get again as a new bag.

The opposite is the opinion of my daughter, since I wear the bag only once a year at most, I should sell it better.
Someone else may have more joy to wear them, it would be too sad to leave them in the closet.
Of course she also thinks about the money should I decide to sell.

I have never sold a bag, I would not know at all where I could sell them except maybe at VC since I live in Europe.
And what it's worth I can't really judge, because there are none on the market as far as I've seen.

crazy but i am just as undecided what to do.
Normally I always know exactly what I want but not in this particular case.

I am very very grateful for all your suggestions and opinions and the photos 880 , thank you so much !!!! :hbeat:

I absolutely love all my bags, but with the NBB I'm completely unsure because I know I'll never wear it more than once a year, on the other hand I like it insanely.

I am aware that I am going in circles.

Most of you are of the opinion that I should definitely keep it.

If I am honest, I am embarrassed not to come to a decision regarding this dilemma.
I'm sure it will take me a while to come to a decision.

There is no need to be embarrassed — this sort of dilemma is just what tPF is there for!

But I do have to ask, why does it have to be a dilemma at all? If you like the bag, and don’t need to sell it for the money (either to buy something else or for other reasons), then why make yourself decide?

I have a couple of Chanels that don‘t get a lot of use. I just sent photos off to Fashionphile to get prices on them. One came in a little lower than I hoped; the other was pretty much exactly what I thought they would offer. I’ve been sitting on these quotes for a couple of weeks, trying to decide what to do, wondering if I would have seller’s remorse. And then I realized I simply don’t feel like selling them right now. Maybe I will in the future, but right now, I just don‘t want to spend the psychic energy on it. So they will stay, either until I know for sure I won’t wear them or I want the money for something else.

I know a couple of older Chanels is hardly a barenia Birkin (I personally would never ever sell that bag, and I don’t even like Birkins!) but it feels to me like you have a dilemma you don’t need to be having, IYKWIM. Some people like to sell things that don’t get a lot of use and that’s fine. But there’s also no rule that says you have to sell a bag because you only use it once or twice a year! I say give yourself a break — you don’t need to reach a final conclusion on this right now! :flowers:

Oh do I really feel you. I was sitting with this dilemma for two years with my barenia faubourg birkin (and it was my first)! Your fauve barenia in all its smooth glory is even more rare than BF! I finally gave my BF up after wringing my hands about it for a long, long time and trying to make it work but not successfully "enough".

I loved looking at my BF and I loved smelling it (is there anything better??) but I also used it very infrequently. Like you, it just didn't go with my clothing. I could make it match but it just didn't FEEL LIKE ME nor did it truly FEEL like MINE. :P I think if it had been ebene or olive it would have worked/felt better. If I had either in smooth barenia I wouldn't question keeping it. I finally sold my bf and I don't miss it (thank goodness) and as soon as I did, I was finally offered what I had been asking for for years-- a box calf black birkin! And when I look at that bag, I love it but it also just feels like mine. My sister agreed and said, "the barenia is so beautiful and classic Hermes but it wasn't you." I remember reading that someone else said they felt like it was very Ralph Lauren and they weren't a Ralph Lauren person or something like that. That resonated for me. Lol.

I love heritage leather, fauve barenia and barenia in general. I see why people cherish it. And I prefer to have only have what I really use. And barring that, even if I don't use something often (ie: my chanel flaps), they belong in my collection/wardrobe and it fulfills a need/function and it feels like me/mine. There is a kinda purse peace about it. Key word for me being PEACE. LOL. I may love and admire things on others and it doesn't have to be for me. I don't need to have it all. I want to have things I clearly love and want.

I agree with @QuelleFromage re: getting as much now while it doesn't have much patina and how also how regretting and wanting to get another one will cost you and it will come with someone else's patina, which some people don't mind I suppose. (I prefer to break things in myself.) Everyone has already given so many great suggestions! My suggestion is that you will be ready when you are ready (I think). My total guess (and it's a total guess since I don't know you) is that you probably won't regret it much should you sell and that if you do, you will get over it as it doesn't really match your clothing (as you said) and when you want to buy something new, there will be something else delightful that you will really want and you should just get that and enjoy it more fully!! And that might help ease the sting of regret too.:smile::heart::smile:

Good luck and take your time deciding! I am sure that either way you will be ok (even if feels super angsty as we're trying to decide). :P:heart: Please let us know of any updates!

PS: I want to add that I don't tend to regret my choices in general and can move on (sort of) quickly after making a decision. It takes me a long time to decide but once I do, I am ok with it either way. I read what others said about how sellers remorse is hard and may be worse than buyers remorse so perhaps you can figure out what kind of personality/person you are and decide? Also, is there really a need to decide and why would it be good to decide now vs later?

Sell it to me! The only B I want.

I want to sell my Chanels since I’m into Hermès now, but surprisingly my husband is against it. He thinks I should keep them even if I never use them. He says I might want them again someday, plus they look pretty in my display case.

Hello catsinthebag ,

Hello kai__415 ,

Monicabing and all the others who have written to me before,

Thank you so much for your understanding and compassion, it has helped me a lot :Blumen:

I love this bag so much for the leather but on the other hand I am not really a Birkin girl, but I am addicted to Kellys .
A Kelly has everything I love, a handle and a wide strap so I can carry it cross body and have my hands free.

If she was a Natural Barenia Kelly I wouldn't think of letting her go for a second.
If I am honest with myself, that is the main reason I am considering selling her.

I also often need time to make a decision, once the decision is made I know all is well and I have no regrets.

I am very grateful to you for sharing your thoughts and views with me, I will now take my time to make the right decision for sure.

Of course I will keep you updated, the reflection period can take months

I suggest you get a Barenia Kelly and then sell the Birkin. This will make getting rid of the Birkin so much easier because something else will have taken it's place in your heart

That being said, I thought you initially said you didn't like the Barenia because it didn't work with your clothing. Were you meaning the color or the style of the bag?
I ask because if this is, indeed, the case then you may have the same problem with the Kelly -- you love it for the looks, the smell, etc. but it doesn't work for you.

Either way, you should only keep something that works for you and you love it. I know it is hard to let go of beauty because we all ove beautiful things (especially the Hermes bags!!). But, there are SOOOOOO many bags in the world so when you let one go, you will find another to replace it that you love just as much.

Promise!

Although I don't own any barenia bags, I do have three Chanel Jumbos sitting in my closet that I don't really use and have considered selling. All three are very desirable due to color or single flap and would be hard to replace if I regretted selling them. I always feel compelled to edit my closet and keep only things I really love and use. However, considering that we are in a somewhat surreal existence with Covid, nothing is "normal" right now. I've decided to wait until we return to a life where we dress up, socialize and go out like we previously did, to get a true picture of whether those bags should stay or go. Since your bag would be so difficult to replace, maybe take 6 months after Covid to try again and then make a decision? I agree that the remorse of selling would probably outweigh the regret of keeping.
