Opinion needed please ... Barenia Birkin dilemma ... new home or keep?

I would keep it for now. It deserves a lot of thought. Heck, you said so yourself in your post that it’s an HG (I interpret it to mean *your* HG, perhaps I’m wrong though).

These are unicorns on the preloved market. Especially in this barely used condition. I know because I search virtually every day.

I would really sit down and think about this one for a while. Don’t sell unless absolute 100% sure. I worry you won’t be able to find this beauty again. At least in this condition and/or at a reasonable price.

If you really think and decide to sell, then do not look back.

I´ve found that it simply doesn´t match my clothing.
What about it makes you think it doesn’t match. Although light and somewhat bright (to those of us who wear black, ebene, grey and etoupe/etain) Natural barenia is still a neutral. I rehomed a Barenia 32 HAC gold hw bc the ghw made me feel like a ralph Lauren ad (I am pretty strictly a Phw person). A gold swift 30B, brushed phw, took its place, and I kept a black barenia 30B. palladium Hw. if you can narrow down what about it makes you not wear it with your normal clothing choices, then you can more easily determine if you will regret letting it go.

ive let bags go that I haven’t worn for months or years and immediately regretted it. I knew I wouldn’t regret letting the 32 barenia HAC go as I determined I am not a GHW person.

JMO! Good luck making your decision and don’t rush it!

Keep Keep Keep! Agree with some others who have said... perhaps you don't really want to sell or wouldn't be asking (or would have already)? The bag you have is HTF and even harder to break out and break in... As a collector of many things barenia, agree that it's hard to take her out for the first or for more than a few spins.. you might change mind in the future after selling then it will be too late! My most beloved bags are barenia and even though most sit in boxes or pretty on the shelf, i'm happy and glad to have been so lucky to find such gems! Best of luck in the decision making and heheheee, if in the end you are looking for a new home...do-doo-doooo?! On standby right here! :graucho:

its a difficult one...I dream of owning a Barenia bag-I just love the smell of it for starters!
My friend has a 35 smooth Barenia Birkin and it really makes my mouth water but in honesty if I owned one I dont think I would actually use it unless it was in olive or black.
Do you think its the colour that stops you using it? If so perhaps message Docride about having her dye the bag so that you can actually use and enjoy it.
Finally if you dont need to sell it for financial reasons I would try wearing it a few times more just so you can get a grip on what stops you using and enjoying it.
Once you understand WHY you dont wear it perhaps that will also allow you to let go without fear of remorse.

I LOVE Barenia, I have a Birkin 35 and a 32 HAC both in Barenia Fauve. I would buy it in every colour in which it was produced, so I'm biased! I'm a casual person and for me Barenia is the ultimate casual leather at the same time being a heritage Hermès leather. It's very subjective, only you can know the answer.....I guess if you haven't used it in 5 years it probably means it's not for you. I have noticed that recently there are almost none on the secondary market, so think hard before you let it go, as I don't think you'll find another any time soon if you should regret selling it.

Maybe somewhat opposite of a lot of opinions, but maybe just asking tPF means you do want to sell it and want to see if there is support in that direction.

I know when I give a bag that look, then it's over, time to break up. Even more so if I never use it. It just feels like such a waste. And when I re-home a bag, I always have happy thoughts of someone else using it all the time and loving it.

Of all the bags I have re-homed over the years, only 2x did I think I regretted it. So I bought the same bags again. And then... I sold them again.

I am overwhelmed by your answers, thank you very much !!! : hbeat:

It made me very thoughtful and I felt that I still need time to make a decision.
You are absolutely right, it's a unicorn that I probably won't really get anymore.

At the moment I can't really wear them because we're still in lockdown.

I have to admit that I would be crazy to let her go.
But despite all my thoughts I'm still not sure how I will decide.

If you are having ANY doubts at all, keep it...seller's remorse is much worse than buyer's remorse imho. Take it from someone who has sold, regretted, repurchased at a much higher price. Once you're really sure, you'll feel better about your decision.
Good luck!
+1000 on sellers remorse and selling, then regretting, then having to hunt down and buy another one.

I assume you mean smooth Fauve Barenia.
IMO, I have had a Barenia Fauve B30 for several years now which is my most used Birkin. I was hesitant to use it at first but after the first oil mark, just mentally relented. Never worry about water but very careful with oil based products, especially food. Other than wrapping the handles with twillys, I give no more special treatment than I give my other B30‘s (Wipe down periodically, keep in box on back when not using). However, I am not super fussy about keeping this leather pristine, as I believe it should age gracefully and try not to prevent that happening. If that is not something you are comfortable with, then Barenia is probably not your ideal leather. HTH!
do you know if the regular smooth barenia is more structured than the newer faouburg barenia? is one lighter weight or easier to maintain? thx
