I've tried to get swatches to fade like that but it never works. I've had a few that have faded slightly over longer times, but then I have other known faders that my swatches haven't changed at all like gelish princess tiara.

Interesting! Gels are so weird. :confused1:

Though I guess if I think about it, I know some windows have stuff to block out some UV rays too, right?

i wonder why that is...

I think the fading is a combination of things - body heat, sunlight exposure, body chemistry, things you expose your hands to (makeup, hair products, cleaning products, etc). I have no proof if that but the fact that I can't get a swatch to fade on purpose of even known faders makes me think that.

Well, that is not good news. So, those of us that are post menopausal might have to deal with our SOG's fading thanks to being hot all the time.:sweatdrop:

This colour shrinks BADLY!!!

The last picture is in natural sunlight

It's a great color on you! Oddly I didn't have any shrinkage issues with that color. Did you shake it well?

All of them had shrinkage issues with me, as well as a strange type of clumpy application and I shake them like crazy. I think they may also have issues with self leveling. I did three coats of Theodora, and still had VNL along with uneven coverage.

Thank you!!! I do like the colour, but mainly in the sunshine.... I am contemplating covering it in another gel in a few days. If this was a dark colour it would be a hot mess!!!

I did shake the bottle but probably not as much as I should have. Shaking those bottles hurts my wrists (I have RSI)!!!

I've found very few of my newer colors have any shrinkage issues (from when the skyfall collection and other new colors to now). Really eurso euro was the first to give me trouble and it wasn't awful. I had to flash cure every two nails with that one.

What basecoats do you all use? I use Gelish for mine (though when I used eurso euro I was trying out coutures basecoat so it may be that).

Shaking them very well, warming them slightly (like under your leg while you do removal and prep, and dry wiping or even completely removing the tacky layer from your basecoat are all things you can try to combat shrinkage.

I usually use vitagel, but I had so much trouble, i tried SOPI base which is the same as OPI. I think part of my problem is that I didn't have enough gel on the brush. I apply super thin coats, and the Oz gels seem to need a little more color on the brush. I had no trouble applying any of the Skyfall colors, or the Holland collection gels. Application of most of the OPI colors has been easy-peasy. SOPI High Maintenance, a hot red, was also a shrinker, but nothing too hard to deal with. I just got one of those Robart nail polish shakers, maybe that will make a difference.

I just put Theodora on tonight too! I didn't notice any shrinkage with that one either though. Even with three coats i have VNL.

I just ordered Theodora yesterday. I hope it applies easily for me too......

I usually warm my bottles the same way, but I didn't yesterday. I warmed for half the usual time for the first hand and then properly for the second hand. I used Vitagel base (I usually use OPI base) and I only dry wiped the base on the second hand and applied the colour coats thicker on that hand. Comparing both hands now the second hand does look better. I'm going to buff and cover though.

I want a polish shaker (and the OPI lamp - total cure time with Vitagel is 11mins!!!!). Trying to find a polish shaker in the UK....
