OK, WHERE do TJMaxx and Marshalls get their bags?

The merchandise is a mix of last season's goods, overstock from retailers, and also overstock from manufacturers. Marshalls and TJ Maxx are the same company--used to be the higher end stuff went to TJ Maxx, but lately they've been trying to boost Marshalls image a bit so they seem to get the nice stuff as well. They get shipments in all the time, so it's worth stopping in every so often to take a look. I probably buy most of my shoes at Marshalls.

Lived in UK for 29 years and never heard of these brands at all
In the UK TJMaxx is TKMaxx and they have alot of American brands like Guess etc in the stores

I know what you mean. Loehmann's has a huge section on Italian designer bags with brands I don't recognize. They also have names that we would all recognize, just like Marshall's or TJMaxxx. I usually don't mind, unless the Italian bags are still expensive, which they sometimes are. I've seen weird brands priced more than 300. Shrug

I have no idea where they get their bags, but I have seen some Coach bags (usually last season) and got the cutest little Cole Haan clutch in a buttercup yellow for $35. I don't get to use it much but I love it when I do.

It depends on the store, the stock, the time you're there,
exactly!! when i want to go i always go on a monday or a wednesday. if you don't have idiots that work in your store you can ask what days they get their new stock. i asked and was told "we can't give out that info!" dufus!!!:cursing:
other girls have asked their store managers and were told the exact days with no problem! and i always make sure i am there when the doors are unlocked so that i am one of the first in the store and i NEVER,EVER go on the weekends! too many people.

one thing i despise about my maxx/marshall's - the employees will keep merchandise hidden in back for themselves!! my sister knew a girl that worked there and she told her when the good bags like dooney and coach come in they pick out what they want to buy and put out the rest!

i told her there should be a law against that!!! just makes me wonder - all the great bags i have found how many more i have never seen.

WOW! You're right, there should be a law against it. And at the same time I'm glad I don't work in one of those stores - the temptation! :crybaby:
As for the italian brands, again I often wonder where they come from and why they're so expensive. I've seen some for over 300 too (the TJMAXX price) I can't verify if the quality is good for that price and personally can't put out that amount of money for it.

I was in TJMAXX the other day and they had some really cute bags.. They had a Nicoli (had never heard of it) that was really nice and the tag said made in italy.. but it was 200 dollars and to me if Im in TJMAXX or Marshalls Im not paying over 100 dollars for anything .. I dont care what name it has on it lol.. Something on sale sure but REALLY on sale is my sort of shopping

something important that i have not seen pointed out - it all depends on the kind of store that you have in your area! not all are the same because i have seen women online say they have never seen any kind of designer bag in their local store plus the fact that the store is always a mess and looks like a big garage sale is going on! the stores are rated and the higher the store the better the merchandise. we have one of the better stores - very big and always clean and in order and i have found MANY dooney handbags, wallets and wristlets there. even coach at times! and this has been at my marshall's store - which is next door to maxx. for some reason they always have better designer merchandise!

Yup, really depends on your area. I've got a Marshalls near me that has GREAT shoes! I have seen a lot of Dooney, B. Makowsky, Michael Kors, and even the Israeli designer Neta Sade (mixed her two names together in my previous post on this thread :p oops). They have a nice selection of bags and belts. But the TJM across town has glorious bag finds.

See, I always wonder where TJ finds all their bags. I have to assume the bags come from "lower end" department stores that do not have outlets, such as Bon Ton and Macy's. I wish TJ had better brands =(

Yup. I overheard the cashier telling a customer the other day that they got something great in recently and all the employees bought them right away. If they get a discount that has to be hurting the store's bottom line.

I got one of my dooney and bourkes there, and it was a brand new design. Couldn't find anything wrong with it. I was always told they sold overstock, discontinued, and irregulars.
