Ok. Now I am annoyed.

I think she will not have any problem reproducing the receipt, though I did not press hard for it. I will ask her to get a copy of that, as proof that it has been with Claude.

One thing that I give her the benefit of doubt, is that this is a VERY reputable reseller, and they do get a lot of H bags... I wonder if anyone has consigned their bags with any resellers (in or out of NY) and have similar experiences? From what I hear, a lot of the consigned bags are taken to H... I wonder if this is a standard practice?

Oh I would be pissed! What gives them the right to change the hardwear on your bag! Did you consent to that? NO! You brought it there to be sold, no conditioned. I would call and confirm it was being treated. She needs to messenger over a contract to you now! I think you should tell us what store this is. I was thinking of bring my things to a consignment store, now I will stand over them and make sure each peice is listed. When you consign online, there is a contract. Very strange!

I just got caught up on this situation today! xiaoxiao, I'm sorry you've been going through this drama with your bag! It's tough, especially when you do research to find a "reputable" reseller. Keep us posted. I hope it comes to full resolution quickly!

i just read this. are you kidding me? they are changing your hardware without telling you? that is ridiculous. not only should you not pay for it (and please i sincerely hope you did not offer to) but if i were you i would demand you bag back. there are way too many good sellers around. sick or not she runs a business and you gave her a multi thousand dollar bag and she can't produce it? that is unheard of. i would demand that she fax or email ALL paperwork NOW and that you get your bag back immediately and that she pay for any and all work that was done to it.

xiaoxiao, I hate to sound really suspicious, but I used to be a lawyer and I don't like the way this sounded at all. You still don't have proof (other than their word) that the bag is with Claude. And why in the world did they decide to change hardware without asking for your consent first? If the bag doesn't get sold at the price you are OK with, you would be left with a bag with a different hardware. In fact, my worry isn't about the different hardware. It's just that I am suspicious that his whole hardware thing is a cooked up story to keep you waiting longer to collect your bag. I just don't like it at all.
I know you said this is a reputable reseller, and it seems this is the only thing you are relying on. I don't know the reseller market at all, but in my opininion a reseller who changed your hardware without asking you first just is not reputable.

That's true... I don't have anything but their words... I will ask them to at least give me a copy of the receipt, so that I know H has it. I was super suspecious when I asked that if it's just cleaned, it shouldn't take that long... That's when I was told the hardware needs to be changed as well, in order to get what I want to get, then that's the whole sh*tty economy thing came out.

I think they are reputable because they sell authentic bags... And they will HAVE to come from somewhere, right? I did take a look at their bags on the shelf, and it seems like all of them are in pretty good condition (ie no scuff and stuff)... So maybe it is the case that they take all their bags to conditioned?

Possibly, they send all their Hermes consignments to be refurbished as a means of authenticating them. Good fakes abound, and I'm sure they're aware of that, and they may want to protect themselves from selling a fake. However, if that's their policy, they should have stated that (in writing) when you consigned the bag.

I would certainly continue to press for a copy of the Hermes receipt, and when you have it, give Claude a call to confirm that he actually has the bag, when he expects it will be finished, and what the workorder entails in regard to repairs, cleaning, etc. I would guess that the consigment shop owner will have to bear the cost of the refurbishing, but make sure that these costs won't be passed along to you, e.g., subtracted from your settlement if the bag sells, if you decide to let them try and sell it that is. If you were not given a written contract up front detailing the financial responsibility of having the bag cleaned and repaired, I don't see how the owner could hold you responsible if this wasn't disclosed to you at the time you consigned the bag.

I'm glad to hear that you've made some progress, and that the owner is finally responding, but I'm sorry that you had to go through this. Certainly takes the fun out of H. doesn't it.

Have to add that that baby boy is just about the cutest munchkin I've seen in a long time. He must bring you great joy!

Good luck in getting a 100% favorable conclusion on this matter. If not, put jag on their case!

I had a problem with a consignment store that left a real bad taste in my mouth. I took in a lot of designer clothing , some brand new with tags, and when i got my checks, none of the newer , deisrable items would be listed on printout. I called the owner and she said she could not locate my clothing, they could not be resposible for theft. when i went in to the store, one of the owner's was wearing one of my unused tops!!! Since then, i either gift my relatives and friends or donate!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG my how awful for you!! What a terrible person!!!

I'm sending you positive energy and a big hug:hugs:
Just remember this too shall pass...you'll see a positive outcome with the H bag (and everything else!).

BTW your baby is beautiful! I have a 6 month old and everytime I look at her I am reminded that I won the lottery:heart:

Xiaoxiao I glad to hear that you have heard from the owner but really I would like to know what business performs in this manner? It is rude and leads me to believe that they should not have my business!!! I do hope that you will locate your bag!! Good luck!

I have been watching this thread. This is NOT how business is conducted. If it is their practice to have all bags cleaned, it should be 1) at their expense and 2) you should have been notified beforehand. I truly think you are still being taken advantage of (after having a child with autism, you learn to toughen up and fight!).

1. If it's not in writing, it never happened. Her reassurances and cell phone # mean squat to me.
2. Why didn't you confront the owner with the REASON for it being cleaned WITHOUT your knowledge and consent?
3. Why are they changing hardware again, WITHOUT your knowledge or consent?

Her being sick is also a pretty lame excuse, in my opinion. I still think you need to write out a letter. 1. Give the outcome you want to have happen (my bag back or sold). 2. Give a reasonable time frame for this outcome 3. State what will happen if this request is not met within this time frame--be specific and be prepared to follow through with it. Totally, totally unacceptable and I like to think I give others the benefit of the doubt. I am truly sorry you are having this stress right now. It will get resolved, but you will need to be proactive. Good luck!

Well this is the shop on West 18th Street, isn't it?
I do not know how they can justify sending clients' Hermes bags off to be cleaned without the owner's permission, even if the store does pay for it. There is certainly NO reason for you to pay for the cleaning when you didn't request it.

Also, are you aware that it costs $500 to change the hardware?????
Who is going to pay for that? And who authorized it? It sounds like you didn't know anything about it.

The problem is that people know this store has a lot of inventory most of the time, so unless you are the one spending your money there, the treatment becomes of poorer quality to the consigner since they are the one in the weakest position. You want to sell your bag - and you know they get a lot of Hermes-seeking customers...so people continue to go back, no matter how they are treated. You have to know how comfortable you are with that if you want to consign there. Eventually your bag will probably sell if you hang in there.

What kind of a bag was it?
