This is very good information from JAG. I would also list all of my contacts (and failed contacts) with the store in writing and send this to the local BBB no matter what the outcome. What this store is doing, or not doing, constitutes completely unacceptable business practices.

And for sure, give them a specific date and time (also in writing-save a copy) to produce either your bag back to your or payment. If they are unable to do this then file a police report for stolen/converted property.

I'll be thinking about you and checking back on this thread. But no matter what, that beautifuly baby boy of yours is the most precious thing in the world. At the end of the year, no matter how bad it's been a job is just a job and a handbag is just a handbag.:heart::heart:
 
Yes, as LaurieAnn said, do let BBB know, regardless of the outcome! This has been totally unacceptable! Thank goodness, too, for JAG and her advice!!! Here's hoping that this gets resolved TODAY!

Ok just called. This is what happened.

I talked to the owner, and she said it's been with Claude. It is taking a long time, but she is expecting to receive back in the next two weeks (on or around August 1). Initially she said she would like to keep the bag at the store until September, but I said that's way too long. So we agreed it will be until August 20, then I will come by to collect the bag.

As for the lack of information, she has been out sick and haven't checked her email. The SM was instructed to defer all questions of H bags to the owner. I told her it has been very frustrating that no one knows where the bag is (She said she understands), then that's when she gave me her cell and told me to call her any time I have a question. I also questioned her why it is taking so long, to which she said H has been receiving more than hundreds of bags, and are piled up with workload right now. In addition, she said my hardware is being changed, and leather polished hence the additional time.

So here is the outcome:

1) We will have a formal contract in place (as of now there is no contract yet), and I will come by to collect the contract, stating the bag is in the store's possession, and I will collect on August 20.

2) I will be notified once she receives the bag from Claude.

3) She still would like to sell the bag for me, it's just this sh*ty economy, things are harder to sell, thus we have to renew the bag blah blah blah.
 
are you ok with them changing the hardware? shouldn't she have gotten your approval and consent first?

That makes me nervous. What if she can't sell the bag, and you then returns it to you?

Hmmm. Well, I am glad that they gave you her cell and that there was somewhat of an explanation. But I have to tell you, this conduct is ridiculous, and I do not like how they took complete autonomy over the bag, and unilaterally decided to service it and change the hardware! That stinks to me!
 
I had a problem with a consignment store that left a real bad taste in my mouth. I took in a lot of designer clothing , some brand new with tags, and when i got my checks, none of the newer , deisrable items would be listed on printout. I called the owner and she said she could not locate my clothing, they could not be resposible for theft. when i went in to the store, one of the owner's was wearing one of my unused tops!!! Since then, i either gift my relatives and friends or donate!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
jag makes a very valid point xiaoxiao....if it were me, I'd HAVE to see some proof that the bag is indeed at the spa....this lady sure took a lot for granted when it came to YOUR bag....just think hard about the situation....is she just trying to satisfy you so you're 'off her back". I'm not trying to upset you more, just trying to be realistic with the situation.
