Interesting sales model Moynat is using now where they are making a number of bags only based on pre orders and not on spec. So if you aren’t an existing client of Moynat, you have a very slim chance of getting one of these limited run bags. I could see a walk in client getting lucky if they happened to come in right after a pre order client changed his/her mind and passed on the bag and the walk in client gets offered the bag. But otherwise, there are going to be certain bags that never make it to the sales floor in the future.
It’s also interesting that the PM sold out before the BB. I’ve been told that they may be discontinuing the rejane PM because most clients only want the BB. But clearly some clients want the mid size bags based on this one Gaby pre order experience.

Moynat might be testing the waters. The Gaby is very popular in the US, so I think the grey might be limited, and then depending on demand, other colors might come back with vigor. I think they don’t want to be left with excess inventory.

Yes, they probably want to avoid more "sales" that really do deplete the luxury vibe.

Interesting strategy for a Ramesh design.

I find it interesting that Moynat’s best selling bags in the US are Ramesh designs — mostly, the Gabrielle lines and the Gaby — almost five years after he left. Though Ramesh will never go back, I appreciate Arnault realizing what his customers liked and his willingness to bring it back. I wonder how Knightly feels?
And I agree about the sudo-exclusiveness vibe of trickling in bags, but I’d rather have limited quantities than a big sale every summer.

The first Knightly bag that seems to be selling out constantly is the small leather tote with the magnetic clasp that reminds me of the Hermes Picotin. I saw that bag when it first arrived in the stores and thought a friend would like it. By the time she made it to the store all of that first shipment had sold out and she was advised to put a deposit down to guarantee one would be reserved for her in the next shipment. Every color way that‘s been made of that tote is now pre-sold and sold out before they are even shipped from the factory.

Yep, a Knightly success (finally) is basically an H knockoff.

And I cringe at the term "factory" when thinking about Moynat! (You are not wrong, alas.)

The bags have arrived. I just picked mine up. They made 24 in the PM and 24 in the BB and are sold out in both sizes. When I saw it in the store, my SA commented that the color irl was much lighter than they thought it would be. I took a pic of mine in sunlight and it is clearly much lighter than the stock pic they sent out for the pre-orders. Pretty shade of grey but not the almost charcoal grey I thought it would be. Colors in pics can be so misleading but fortunately I’m happy with the shade it turned out to be. I hear that management was very happy with the reaction to this test limited production run of the Gaby and they are more likely going to produce more Gaby’s in other colors. I don’t know whether or not they’ll stick with this limited production presale business model for the Gaby or resume regular production. But at this point i think we can assume that the Gaby has been unretired.

The tiny Gabrielle is super cute!! I wish they can produce it for sale. I miss the beautiful charm they used to have. Guess it’s an eye-catching promotion strategy for new nano Gabrielle?
