I have a pale cream silk long Hermes scarf. Very simple with Hermes name at the bottom. It is possibly a man's scarf. It is not too long and not too wide. Very simple. It is possible that it is the oldest Hermes in my collection.
It is very lightweight.

Does anyone have any info on it?

Amberle, you have a new fan -- thanks for posting these gorgeous pictures and for capturing the the fabulous detail. May you find (and share) more treasures!

First of all I want to truly :ty: mistikat for opening this thread.
I love hermès scarves and in particular I adore the vintage ones.
I would like to share this love with other members. I hope there will be other member that will share their love for vintage scarves too.

I am so surprised to see so few replies on this fabulous thread! I have some vintage with only 1-issuance too, and l treasure them more than newer ones!

I was wondering if you find the vinatage to have a "thicker" silk feel than the new ones? I don't think they are heavier in weight than the modern production, but they feel more substantial for some reason, even though some show wear from cleaning/wear. Do you find the same?

Also, do you think care should be different for these vintage beauty? Do you wear them less because of the rarity factor?

Thanks! I look forward to more vintage discussion with you and other vintage lovers!

Hello dear tahnks!
I don't think care should be different but I wear them much less because of the rarity factor and I was thinking to have them framed in the future!
They weight the same as the new ones but maybe they have a thicker silk especially the jacquard one, especially compared to their age and the cleaning/wear factor.
When you have the time please post some images of your beauties!
All the best!

I had two vintage Hermès scarf from my mother, and sold them on Ebay, because I found they were too pale. But now I regret. I also found the silk was a bit different, thicker. Sort of better quality.

I have some vintage scarves and I find them at vintage shops just by the feel of the silk. Of course, I do look for the Hermès patterns, but I do not know all or even THAT many.

And yes, to answer the post, I think they feel even thicker then Hermès scarves feel nowadays, though I still find Hermès has a different quality silk then other big designer brands with expensive scarves. Call me a snob, but I only have Hermès!

Certainly will! I have a jacquard scarf though not a vintage one. I must say I am a little timid about wearing jacquard because it is so beautiful to look at! As for the vintage scarves they do have some flaws due to age and being loved by previous owners, so I am less fearful of using them actually. I prob should be more careful with the ones that only has one issuance ever though!

I agree that thicker feels better to me. It drapes nicely even after hand washing and just light steaming, whereas thinner ones don't wash well and require ironing or steaming long time to get it look right.

Hello Dear,
Glad so many others are feeling the same way about the old vs. new! We love Hermes either way, and I definitely prefer Hermes scarves over CD, Channel and Cartier scarves.
That being said, I must say SALVATORE FERRAGAMO and LEONARD PARIS scarves are as high quality as Hermes. Salvatore Ferragamo has the most amazing print whereas I love Leonard Paris's luster and color on silk. Give them a try I think you will find them as satisfying as Hermes!

I, too, am a scarf hound! Most of my Hermes are from the 80-90s. Le Keyes was my first-- I loved the great royal blues and it was on the cover of the booklet that year. Another favorite is Carnivalesque with all the references to New Orleans. I have about 30 Hermes and don't wear them as often as I used to, but I cannot part with them--most were gifts from DH.

I also like other brands, especially vintage Pucci. Agree that the FERAGAMO are fabulous-- their color pallet is quite wonderful.

You have made me curious about Leonard--I don't think I have seen any. I will try to search for them.

Love 20-60's vintage scarves. Air brushed rayons. Italian abstracts from 50-60s. It's all wearable art.

My first vintage was CERES of 1st issuance. Later I got a rare Profile, a Cles les, Musee , BRIDE DE GALA of the 1957 issue and loved them all. The collection is growing and my favorite so far is prob Tahiti and Biarritz.

I heard a lot of great things about Pucci, but almost all of her prints are modern and geometrical. I personally am more drawn to classical styles and feminine prints like flowers and animals. I will for sure check Pucci scarf out some day I am sure! Does Pucci scarf come in thick twill like Hermes?
