Would love that vintage classic artistry to come back in fresh colors. When they reissued promenades de Paris a couple of years ago I ordered every single color through my SAReviving this thread. What are your favorite vintage designs? Do you think H should revive/renew/refresh them (without just adding polka-dots)? PIX, PLEASE!
OH, this Edifices is magnificent! Can't wait to see what you do with it.Would love that vintage classic artistry to come back in fresh colors. When they reissued promenades de Paris a couple of years ago I ordered every single color through my SA. I was so excited and with that new striped hem
. I have whittled down to 2 of the best colors on me. I can’t remember, did you get that one moma? And I just bought Edifices de Paris. Just waiting for it to go through the control process. Fingers crossed all goes well!
I think my weakness is the vintage that are a slice of life with people in it. I’ll look in the book and revive my memory on vintage designs.

I love many of the vintage designs but I’ve learned I have to be careful with the often wide borders. I’m not a collector and I don’t have room to hang them so it’s gotta go around my neck for me to consider the purchase as opposed to admiring from afar.
@Nomad I think that Promenade 70 is a great example of a job well done; the hem treatment didn’t take away from the design. I worry about the mashups and polka dots and the like because IMO sometimes too much of the beauty/charm of the original design is lost. OTH, I’m not a fan of Jungle Love but I adore the new stamped treatment in the recent 70 cm iteration; it mashes up the design quite well enough for me (sorry, just never cared for that one lol).
I would not object at all if there were fewer of the ‘whimsical’ designs offered in the 70 cm format and more reconsidered classics.
It makes me sad that this gorgeous jacquard just went for a song on evilbay. I already have it, or I would have pounced. View attachment 5879366
Thank you for reviving the thread @momasaurus. I adore the artistry, history and charm of the vintage scarves. There are so many lovely details in these designs, including the jacquards. @Nomad, I think your beautiful Promenades and Bassets were reissued in the same year if I am not mistaken? I, too, appreciate the updated colors. Like you, @textilegirl, I like to wear my scarves (a lot!), and many of the vintage scarves have tons of gold in them, which sadly doesn't work with my complexion. I have not yet found a way to pull that off. I do appreciate the recent idea of the "forever scarves", and hope there will be some more re-issues in the 90s format. At any rate, below is a vintage 90cm version of Bassets/Les Teckels, together with the recent 70cm re-issue. You can see the difference in printing.Would love that vintage classic artistry to come back in fresh colors. All so trueThat's a perfect example @BlueLilac! Look at the details in the shading, there are sooooo many more details in the vintage edition. There's certainly nothing wrong with the new version but in the context of the 'good old days' and conversations about the direction that Hermes is taking to meet the needs of current and new luxury customers it's hard to argue there's no difference; there certainly is one in price.
OTH, see you at the boutique![]()
