MaggyH Glad you like the Trim ,I'm getting to like it more and more.
It's a Trim II 31 , like the one you're considering . I'm 5' 6'' and quite slight built.
It is much much smaller than any bag I own , so it feels a bit restricted for the everyday city use ...umbrella , bottle of water , book ..no chance!
It is lovely to have as another option if I'm going out , I've put it on a chair so that I'll remember it needs to be taken out too...
Hope this helps, and love to know what you decide !

Thank you so much for your reply! Trim sounds just like my Evelyne PM (I think they are similar in size), not much fits in it, only essentials.
I am not sure what to do, I really like the look of a Trim II, especially as the one I am looking to buy is in ebene barenia! On the other hand, my SA just called, that she is holding some bags for me, so I will decide tomorrow after visiting the boutique.

Hi Trim fans: I'm new to the world of Hermes and interested in buying a Trim II/31/with gusset. The local boutique (US) told me that Hermes is currently only marketing the Trim 35/no gusset. The SA was willing to try to special order a 31/gusset model, but warned that it might not be accepted. Anyone else have news about whether it is still possible to order the Trim 31/gusset in the US or other countries? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

hermes_newbie, have you considered looking for a "pre-loved" (aka used) 31 Trim II (with the gusset)? I think you should be able to find one pretty easily, and this is absolutely what I did in a similar situation. Study up on the Trim here on Purse Forum, ask lots of questions, participate, chime in, research, then when you find one you like, be sure to ask for authentication over on the "Authenticate This (please)" thread. Good luck! Study, study! :) Here's to the Trim!

Hi VnSoie:
Thanks for the helpful response! Pre-owned indeed seems like a good idea, offering more options. In the current ebay Trim selection, there is bit of variation in Trim II/31 bags. One even had an outside zipper pocket. And some strap buckles look rounded rather than square. So I'll have to spend some time studying...
Another Trim II/31 question: Does an iPad fit in this bag? I notice the Trim IIs have a fairly narrow opening.

The iPad slides perfectly into my Trim I/35/ no gussets - a perfect fit w/ a couple of calvis, tissue holder, and a zip zap!

W/O the iPad, it can hold/fit a bottle of water in the corner and one can't see anything protruding... HTH^

Be sure to know your seller. There are fakes out there~I cant recommend the Trim highly enough but please do your research.

You're welcome. I am glad to be able to help a little in return for all the help I've received here. You have a good attitude about spending time studying. There is a goldmine of information here--and you've already seen how much variation there is in the marketplace--so knowing the product, and as TankerToad so correctly pointed out, the seller, are crucial. Good luck, and please let us know how your hunt turns out!

Hi Trim Lovers,
For those with Evergrain Trims, can you comment on the wear/scratch factor of this leather? I studied the Evergrain string and talked to a couple of Hermes SA's, and am now confused. Some posts say that Evergrain scratches can be rubbed out. One SA told me that Evergrain would not show the scratches -- another cautioned that Evergrain was a fairly "delicate" leather, with Clemence being a much better slouchy choice from a durability standpoint.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Random New Trim info:
If anyone wants to buy a new Trim 35 in Evercalf, there is apparently a black one available at the Palermo, Italy store. The SA cautioned that transfer to a local store near you, however, could take a long time...

Hi again,

My black Trim is Evergrain, and scratches rub right out. It is beautiful, supple, luscious leather. I will say that after a two-week trip where my bag was really packed and carried every day, there were little spots where the lower corners of the inside pockets had pressed against the outer leather, and I could see dull spots. A little attention (see DocRide's 'vintage bag nightmares' thread) resolved the problem. I would definitely take another evergrain bag. HTH.

Additional comment: "Scratch" is relative--I'm speaking about fingernail scratches, light marks from my car keys, things of that magnitude. Those scratches rub out. A deep scratch that actually penetrated the top layer of the hide, say, like a knife scratch or dragging it on a chain-link fence or nail, would be a different matter, I would think. I don't think evergrain is renewable at spa like clemence is said to be.

I have a evercalf KP which is said to be more delicate than evergrain and I have used it to death and it looks just fine. The scratches melt together and it looks better all the time. Evergrain is lovely, too. It is stamped evercalf and is really beautiful and durable.
