Ode to the Picotin

I just sent her a screenshot of the bag posted earlier in this thread (the P22 tricolor) and asked my SA if she had ever seen one. I think it was sheer luck that there happened to be a shipment at exact same time and no one had previously requested this specific bag. I'm out on the East Coast. Earlier, my SA had told me earlier that for a P18, I needed to request a particular color combo so she could put me on a list to reserve the bag before it came to the store. That being said, I had seen a P18 in the Hermes orange (so cute) once prior and P22s several times in the store. (this was helpful because I knew I could commit to a Picotin without seeing it first). I know Noveltwist was discouraged by her SAs response - my SA did tell me that the lighter colors like Craie are incredibly popular so perhaps that was one of the reasons her SA was less optimistic. I would describe my SA as being very cautious and conservative in terms of promising bags, but we were both delighted at how the timing happened to work out in this case.
Ah awesome story!!! What good luck :) :) Very happy for you!

On to bag organizers - I'm confused about the various Samorga options. It looks like there are 3 options per size: a "raw edge" one, a regular one (both seem to be 2 mm felt, but I can't really tell the difference between the two in pictures) and the "zero pocket bag liner" which is 4 mm. Would love to hear from anyone with input on these different types. Also, if any of you have 7RP inserts - your thoughts? Its priced at 425 E which seems quite hefty given the price of the bag itself (also, not available until April). Worth it?

Just like @ardenp I had a similar thought wondering if the 7RP is worth it. In Mel in Melbourne's video it looked like it might actually dent the bag... she did stuff it super full, but still the shape made me think it might prevent the P from closing nicely but it is cool that it really shapes the corners. I saw another TPF thread (which of course I can't find right now) about 7RP inserts making stretch marks or "dents" in the bags where the top of the insert touched the leather so I'm wary.

I’m having the same issue! Can’t decide between the “low” and “high” options :panic:

I ended up ordering an insert from White Fox on Etsy - the insert is not felt, but more like a linen (I think) which I think will work well since I mostly just want it to protect the interior and don't care as much about pockets, etc. I'll post an update when I get it! Took my little P18 out and about this weekend and I love how lightweight and easy it is to use.

I have inserts from White Fox for my Lindy's and Evie and she makes a very nice insert. You'll love it!

I also bought a White Fox insert upon TPF recommendations. I did a custom size. It's exactly what I wanted. Shipping took forever (I want to say maybe 6wks) but not longer than a 7RP would take.

I have the raw edge one from Samorga. Raw edge is different from regular one is that the top is just cut off and stitched instead of folded over and stitched around. In the youtube videos I saw, they only had regular ones High and Low comparison and they preferred the High one and you can see that Low one the leather folds down and made an outline obvious that there is an insert but high ones it did not but did notice they seemed stiff and not very pliable. Reason I went with raw edge, is bc it more softer on top so bag doesn't show any outline.
But after I purchased it, they started carrying the 1.2mm thickness inserts and I would have chosen that over 2mm in raw edge. I want to keep my picotin from collapsing on itself but still want bit of slouch with organization. I purchased the 1.2mm for my LV Sienna and liked it.
Here is photo of my 22 with raw edge samorga in it.

Hi all. I’m really excited to share with you the strap I got from Etsy. Huge thanks to @Yuriloved for posting hers months ago. Before I get to the pics, here are the specs of the strap I had custom made:

- Seller shoulderbagstrap on etsy
- Item is the 30 mm Togo leather strap
- I got 70 cm length (27.5 in) and asked for the loops to be 15 cm (5.9 in), based on the loop size Yuriloved got. I believe Yuri’s strap was longer at 80 cm.
- I am 5’5” and didn’t want the bag to sit too low on my hip. Also taking into account the handles would add length too, when the strap is on. So I requested 70 cm total length instead of 80 cm. You can see it’s a good length for me. I could’ve actually gone maybe 60 cm but maybe it wouldn’t be as easy to put my hand in.
- The width is good, only slightly wider than the handles of my Pico 22. I didn’t want too wide then it wouldn’t match the handles width.
- The length actually came out to be 72 cm instead of 70. Oh well, I’m not going to fuss about 2 cm.
- It was $53, purchased Jan 10 and arrived Jan 27.
- I also have a Pico 22 insert from White Fox, inside my bag.
- I will report back whether this strap is easy to use. I will say that first impressions....the “resting state” of the bag isn’t as pretty with the strap on...nor when carried by the handles (strap kinda gets in the way unless you push it off to the side). I also wonder if the glazing will rub on the handles....so maybe a twilly on the handles is the next step. Or, maybe having the loops a bit bigger/longer....maybe 20 cm instead of 15? Not sure how that would look though.
- Anyway, pics! My bag is Bleu Nuit and I asked her for the same color. It’s not listed in her color swatches but she does have it. It’s a fairly close match, maybe 95% match. I’ll look at it again in the sunlight tomorrow.

What do you all think? Good, bad? Honest opinions please thanks!

Wow! I think this looks amazing and I think the changes you made to the specifications are right on. I am still waiting for a picotin 18 in the right color and when I do, I will definitely look into this strap. I imagine if it's feeling fussy you can always take it off and store it in the bag and put back on when you want to wear on your shoulder. Thank you for sharing!

Just a small tip/info for those struggling between sizes 18 and 22 ... 18 is a really small bag but for this type of bag I think it's a better choice than 22 ... what I don't like about 22 is the length of the handle which is a little too long (16 cm) to carry at the crook of the arm and due to the size of the base which makes it look bulky...these are the reasons why I chose size 18
I agree with you, I regret I bought 22 back on 2018 and later sold it because it’s to big for my liking I should have gotten the 18 probably that one I will not get bored with it and would have used it more anyway my current fav is tpm and looking to get my first k25 or b25 hopefully my sa can find what I wanted though.

I was thinking the same, that I could keep the strap in my bag and just clip it on real quick when I need to throw the bag over my shoulder. Like when I go to the restroom and need to wash my hands. That’s my perennial problem, cause I do NOT want to set my bag down anywhere in a public restroom. That is, when things go back to normal and I’m going out in public again for a whole day.

I'm curious is your Pico an 18 or 22? The strap looks good, totally changes the look of the pico in a good way. Thanks for leaving us the details.
