Ode to the Picotin

After weeks and weeks of trying, I was finally able to purchase a Picotin 18 in bleu nuit w/ GHW on H.com. I added it to my bag and went to the checkout page expecting the page to show the dreaded out of stock notice like it had done numerous times before, but it actually went through! I placed the order on Friday around 7pm and received a shipping notice today. Wasn't the color combo I was originally going for but it is a gorgeous combo nevertheless and I am so excited to receive it! For those of you that use bag inserts, what is your experience with the Samorga inserts? I bought one as soon as I received the shipping notice from H, but now I'm starting to get nervous that the stiff insert will cause indents on the soft leather. Any other recs would be appreciated!

Congrats - I have a bleu nuit w/ phw and love it. Although I'd love to add a fun colour in the future. I use a samorga insert and it helps with the structure. There haven't been too many issues with identation although I'm careful not to leave the insert in 24/7 and remove it every now and then to allow the leather rest. Mai Tai also makes a linen insert which is a lot softer that you may want to consider. Good Luck!

That’s good to hear! Thank you, the mai tai sounds like a great alternative:tup:

I use a Samorga insert and find that it is flexible enough to mold to the shape of the bag without leaving indents. I promise I’m not affiliated with them or anything, I just find their products to be good quality and I think that some of the other bag organizer companies (looking at you 7RP) are deliberately overpriced to take advantage of people they already know are likely to spend a lot of money. I have yet to find a real review of their products that isn’t gifted to someone. Pics of my Samorga insert here:

Hello, I'm a Hermes newbie. Can someone explain the difference between a regular picotin vs picotin eclat vs picotin casaque? Is it just the different leathers? TIA
All the three Picotins you mentioned are made in Clemence. (I'm not sure if it's made in Maurice which is very similar to Clemence.) The difference are illustrated below. HTH.

Regular Picotin (single color the entire bag)

Picotin Eclat (leather under handles in a different leather (usually Swift) and a different color)

Picotin Casaque (half of the body in one color, another half in a different color and handles in contrasting colors.)

Question - when you're not using your pico for an extended time (more than a week), do you take off the lock? I've sometimes put the little lock dustbag on the lock so it's not resting on the leather all the time. But should I take it off completely?

Or maybe I just ought to use her more often!

when not in use, I put a bag puffer/pillow inside my picotin 18 and take off the lock completely. For me, I don't want the weight of the lock make the bag slouch over time :D
