I got the E29 in Clemence Biscuit. I am very casual day to day and go to work sites (I’m an interior designer) where I need to be hands free and sometimes I can’t even put my bag down.
I super love the colour because in some lights it’s a nice tawny brown but in some lights it’s even mustardy.
Can’t quite decide on Twilly but I have this for now. Suggestions welcome!

While the hardware preference is personal, I don't think you can go wrong here bc gold is classic and you don't have to match your jewelry to your hardware. Also, while you can currently get a TPM for less, I think you'd be hard pressed to find the same color/hardware combo in the box, the new condition you describe, etc. Don't freak out.
I think those of us here have a tendency to obsess over the small details, but your bag is a beauty! Truly, it's gorgeous! It's a classic Hermes Evelyne! Enjoy wearing it. If in doubt, enjoy it a little longer (carefully ) and sell it for more in a few years. 
Top clasp in picture, oldest type on Evelyne, and it often broke. Middle one is current one that sometime comes undone, as yours does. Bottom is most secure, but not available on this strap. I think they discontinued the first one because it broke and it is really a flaw that the middle one is not always secure. I had middle one come undone and Evelyne fall off my shoulder several times.

My Evelyne GM strap still comes undone every few days (just happened again today) even though Paris supposedly replaced the hardware. I have shoes in for repair at my local boutique. I plan to politely interrogate the after sales person about the Evelyne when I pick up the shoes. It's ridiculous for this to keep happening.
Crazy that Hermes cannot get a clip that is secure. The bottom one in my picture is the one that they put on the woven pattern straps. I think they need to use it on the Evelyne.
Yes I am looking for a strap with clips for my bag. I just can’t find a strap that I like that would match the color of my Evelyne (deep blue). It’s such a bummer because I really love this bag, and the annoying straps are what make me pause from adding another
I’m guessing this is only an issue with the larger evies? I have not encountered it with my tpm yet.

I always thought the mini was too small so never really bothered but my SA offered so.. why not?
I have an evelyne 29 which is probably my most used practical bag but it’s not love at first site like the mini.

Also, don’t know if it helps anybody and I haven’t waded through the 700+ pages but I recently bought a shoulder strap for my E29 from Etsy and it’s like I have a whole new bag.
Definitely recommend looking up the strap if you don’t like the crossbody strap
