Ode to the Evelyne

My Evelyne GM strap still comes undone every few days (just happened again today) even though Paris supposedly replaced the hardware. I have shoes in for repair at my local boutique. I plan to politely interrogate the after sales person about the Evelyne when I pick up the shoes. It's ridiculous for this to keep happening.
Which way does the moveable piece of the clasp face? I have mine facing out & so far it seems secure? I've only had mine for a couple of days though.

IIRC, they were facing out when I bought the bag and then someone here recommended having them face in. But since that hasn't worked even after they replaced the hardware, I'll try having them face out now. Thanks for the tip.

Good luck to the both of us. It would be a shame to have to buy a more secure strap if this tip fails.
Yep. I still plan to talk to the after sales person who took care of getting it fixed the next time I'm at the boutique as this shouldn't have happened in the first place. Let me know if you run into the issue yourself. It's a shame because I love how roomy, handsfree and casual it is but with this issue, it doesn't feel like the carefree bag it should be.

Most of my Evelyne clasps are secure. Just one strap that has a loose clasp. It is as if the spring that holds it shut is not tight. Hermes should have quality control checking these before they are even put on the strap. It is the least expensive part of the bag. It is disappointing that with the high quality of the bag this can be the weakest link. Are we sure they replace the hardware when bag goes back? This takes a good bit of hand stitching to switch the hardware, so you would think they would make sure nte new clasp is a tight one.

Had this been my only H purchase, I would have not returned to the brand. But I do love everything else I've bought (even the Evelyne, when it works right) ahd have had no quality/and or other issues with anything else.

Also, don’t know if it helps anybody and I haven’t waded through the 700+ pages but I recently bought a shoulder strap for my E29 from Etsy and it’s like I have a whole new bag.
Definitely recommend looking up the strap if you don’t like the crossbody strap
Do you have the name of the seller? I would like to have this strap.

its from a shop called BagStrapCollection. I believe they are closed for Lunar new year so you may not find them.

I’ve actually found similar on AliExpress for 1/3 of the price, not sure if quality is as good though. Might be similar as the Etsy seller above is also sending from China even though they say the shop is in UK.

Hi all - I currently have a Gold Clemence TPM with palladium hardware. It's an adorable back and very well-made, but it holds so little that I find myself reaching for it only when I go to dinner, run a quick errand, or am on vacation. I'm considering selling it and found an Etoupe Clemence PM for less than what I'd get for the TPM, but then also saw a Thalassa Clemence PM as well. The Etoupe seems so versatile and I'm pretty cool-toned so I think it would work with nearly everything in my wardrobe, but I'm a bit worried about color transfer. The Thalassa is to die for, but I'm not sure I would reach for it quite as often, although maybe I would because it seems more carefree. Any thoughts? Keep the TPM, or switch to PM, and if so, which one?

Been using my etoupe tpm for a few months now, can confirm no issues with color-transfer yet.

I’ve had an etoupe Evelyne GM for over 12 years and there has never been any color transfer. I’ve worn brand new dark wash jeans probably a dozen times and never had a problem with this color or any of my H bags.
