Ode to the Evelyne

Hi, I am new to hermes and looking at getting an evelyne pm in gold or etoupe with ghw. It would probably be my only hermes for a while.. Which color would match easily and is good for everyday? I dress casually mostly with jeans. Or any other color recommendations? Thanks in advance!!
Gold looks fantastic with jeans. Not a fan of etoupe, however, paired with gold hardware it is quite nice. I had an etoupe Evelyne with palladium hardware, but after a while it looked muddy to me. Ended up selling it. And I personally love gold with gold hardware.

I have a bleu nuit Evelyne with palladium hardware that makes a good every day neutral. If I got another Evelyne, it would be gold with gold hardware. I saw it in store and agree with krawford, it's a gorgeous combo and also great for every day.

The boutique near me has gold with palladium now. Should I wait for gold hardware?

Well let me say this, I originally had gold with palladium hardware but when they came out with gold hardware I sold it and purchased the new one, more than once actually as my daughters have taken over some of my bags. It is just my preference. There is not a lot of hardware on that bag to begin with. But if it were me, I would wait. If it is not exactly what I want I don’t get it. I used to, but not anymore.

It really depends on your preference. I personally prefer palladium HW on the Evelyne — I think the PHW is better suited to casual bags, plus I like the warmth of gold combined with the cool tone of the PHW. But if your heart is set on gold with GHW, then wait for that.

I think all three colors are good for an Evelyne. I know it sounds cliche, but try them on, one will grab you more than the others. As I said before Evelyne wasn't even on my radar when I went to my appointment. There were a couple in the case (a light blue and a gold, I believe). I eyed them and thought about the gold one but as soon the SA brought out the bleu nuit and I put it on, I knew it was coming home with me. I personally look at all three as four season colors. I did end up with a GM, instead of PM because I wanted the extra room for an insert that fit my ipad (which I'm waiting to receive now). I'm eyeing either black or gold for my next bag, Garden Party 36. I actually really want a Double Sens 45 but I have to go the pre-loved route for it because the color(s) I want are not available anymore according to my SA. I'll eventually get around to a gold Evelyne, but I want a couple of other styles first. H has grabbed me for sure.

Does gold, black or bleu nuit look better for evelyne pm? For mostly casual wear. And which hardware? I cannot make up my mind...

I think there can be more than one right answer :) These are all great neutrals.

For what it’s worth, I have a gold PM evelyne with ghw and I love it. I also have a PM etain (similar to etoupe) with phw. They’re just different looks. Of the two, the gold with ghw feels more special to me. Both get lots of use (relative use, since I don’t get out much these days with the pandemic!)

I was looking at etain as a possibility for the future. Does it look more gray than etoupe? I haven't had a chance to see an etain in-store yet.

yup, etain is GRAY, whereas etoupe has brown undertones. The trade off is etain doesn’t have contrast stitching, which is nice about etoupe. I think you should go to the boutique and play around with available colors. You may see something you wouldn’t have thought of that you really like in person! Hermès is all about the colors.
