Ode to the Evelyne

Gosh this bag and I are having a rough start. So I got reply from Hermes that I can remove the plastic around the metal clasps and try on the strap with the bag. But having to be careful not scratching any hardware. Great!

But once on I felt that the strap was very wide and it felt almost like carrying a sports bag. Then I noticed that a tread in the strap had popped. No! So I contacted Hermes and said I will return.

But... now sleeping on it and doing some research I realise the strap is 5cm wide, compared to LV Multi Pochette canvas strap that is 4cm wide and people love that strap. So I think the strap is just something one needs to get used to after carrying thin leather straps for years.

But sadly there is still this issue with the popped tread. Will contact Hermes to see if they are able to send a replacement strap. If so I def think this bag will be a keeper.

Anybody else had this happen to their straps?

Hasn't happened to my strap but I would probably just return the whole thing and start over. I like the strap, it's comfortable.

ps the hardware does not scratch easily.

My question is, I know LV bags don't come with a proper tag attached, and I am hoping Hermes is the same bc there was no tag at all attached to the bag. Can someone advise if they tag? What should I do if they do tag? Thanks.

Hi, I received mine last week and no tags on the bag just like LV. Please share pictures of your two lovely Evie’s when you have them Hermes does colour like no one else.

I am in US and never had a bag come tagged. Any worries I would always call customer service as they are very nice.

Typically I wouldn't worry about a thread, I would just use one of those pill-remover devices, however, this is a nearly 4k bag so it would bother me and I wouldn't want to experiment on removing it myself.

My bags have never been shrink-wrapped (US), only the hardware has been covered by shrink-wrapped plastic. Otherwise the boxes come packed in bubble wrap, nicely tied with a bow and perfect.

Hi everyone!

I first got a bag insert for my Evelyne PM from Senamon, and then got another from Samorga because it sells a set of two inserts, one of which is for the side pocket. I was using the Sarmoga ones and noticed lines on the leather (please see the pics attached). I preferred Samorga's product/hard felt overall, but it seems to leave lines on the leather. I use them in place only when I use the bag. I recently switched to the Senamon one and it seems to happen less.

I think it's indicative of Clemence, the shine highlights the lines. Even the outline of my phone is slightly visible in the front pocket.

I use a Loewe pouch in side my Evie. It's kept the bag nice but has kinda ruined my pouch (because it's pale blue suede and the bag is unlined black Clemence). I don't mind the pouch picking up the black transfer too much because I had it years without using it and now it's used every day. Unlike most commercial inserts, the pouch is supple and moulds to whatever's in the bag.

The good thing with Clemence is that it usually bounces back eventually and is quite forgiving. Perhaps just switch them periodically or stuff the bag when being stored (unless you're like me and use the bag every day).

I’m glad to know that a phone can leave a line! I’ve found the lines stay for a while after I use my Evie with the Samorga. I’m afraid it won’t go away if I keep doing it. After I switched it to a softer insert, it seems better.

It’s nice you have a perfect insert! I wish I could make one by myself!

I don’t use my Hermes bags often any more staying home due to COVID-19 . Can’t wait for this to be over soon...

Can anyone give me the total length of the strap at the shortest adjustment please?

I measured it and it’s about 38 inches.

Somewhere here on tof, a member mentioned a store on Etsy where custom straps can be made, I briefly looked at it and it looked. plus, the prices were great. And you wouldn’t have to permanently shorten your H strap. Sorry, I can’t remember the name of the shop....

No only the hardware Clasps on the strap has plastic covering on them. The box just had a ribbon tied around it and was wrapped in bubble wrap.

Like another member said the bag is too expensive for me to live with the pull on the strap I am calling customer service tomorrow to see if they can sort a new strap.

My bag is gold with gold hw and I don’t see them coming up that often on the website In this combination otherwise I would send it back and try again.
