What makes an Evie an “Amazone” bag?

For example, on the USA website right now there is a black 29 and a black 16. They both appear identical (except the size) but the 16 is listed as Amazone. Both bags have black leather and black straps. Does it have to do with the “wooly canvas” strap? That detail isn’t called out in the 29 item description but the two straps both look like basic woven canvas?

I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while now... I thought Amazone was a strap that was either multicolor (patterned or stripes, or different front/back) or a different color from the bag leather (like gold bag with brique strap).

My SA recently offered me two Amazone Evies, both had the same color strap as leather. Totally confusing to me!

Additionally can anyone ID the tan and white strap in the last attachment?View attachment 4616485View attachment 4616486View attachment 4616487View attachment 4616488View attachment 4616489View attachment 4616498

I thought Amazone straps were bi or multi colored until I saw your post. Now I am curious too.

The website is done very poorly. There was a season where nearly all TPMs had multicolor straps. Since then, all TPMs have been listed under the Amazone name. I believe it is just another example of non-techie people running an internet commerce website.

Oh interesting... so you’re thinking Amazone essentially means nothing? I had been assuming it must refer to some not-visually-obvious quality or feature of the bag, no?

Nope, I believe it’s just a typo that happens to be correct in the instances where they list one with a multicolor strap.

I once ordered a blue nuit that has a picture of a regular blue canvas strap and wasn’t listed any special way.... so imagine my surprise when it came with the Amazone strap! It was a PM size, not TPM. I did consider it but ended up returning. Sometimes I wonder if that was the right call, since it is pretty cool looking, just not what I wanted. Anyway this was just to say that yes the website isn’t always accurate!

There are so many color choices on the US website right now. I’ve been looking for a dark blue PM for a while. I found pictures of bleu nuit (close to black) and bleu encre (has purple undertones). Can anyone please share pictures of bleu saphire? And if you have many blues a comparison! I would really appreciate it

There's a color reference thread somewhere, I was looking at various dark blues there the other day.

Maurice is similar, just a little more structured with a slightly smaller grain. In use, they behave almost identically.

There is a picture of bleu saphir next to bleu nuit here: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/blue-nuit-vs-blue-sapphire.929762/page-2#post-29613866
Thank you for the feedback and also for sharing the picture! The 2 colors look so similar with the sapphire slightly lighter. I think I’ll try to go to the store to see the colors in real life.

@babypanda , here are a few pics of my Blue Sapphire Clemence Evelyne, purchased in 2014 — when new, in sunlight, next to Blue Electrique and next to Etoupe. The color varies quite a bit in different light, but it is definitely lighter than Blue Night. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much. That is super helpful. I think this is the color I’m looking for . Your bags are gorgeous by the way!
