You are right, I went to one of the 3 Hermes local boutique in my country yesterday. There was a this huge shelves displaying mostof Hermes iconic bags, BKC, Jysiere and including a Bolide (in gold!!!!) . Was admiring them when i overheard an SA telling her customer "Oh all these on display are for display only, there are no ready stocks"
Dang!. Ok, i didnt even get the chance to ask and i got my answer
Which Bolide.. was it a Bolide 31?
Thank you

Am I the only person who suspects Hermès’ strangle-hold on new bags is effecting the resell market? It’s my understanding luxury houses wanted the resale of goods to end. Five years ago, at any given time, I saw a dozen Bo31 bags (in various colors) offered on the H website. Then in a poof, only shoulder straps.
Bo31 bags still entered the resale market—but that flood of bags turned into a trickle, and is now a drip. I’m seeing that with other bag designs, too.
I think Hermès is getting its wish—customers having to buy from the stores.

The buyout prices for all brands have been pretty dismal for a few years now b/c of Covid and the economy -- it could be that people are just holding on to their bags longer because they aren't getting good buyout quotes.

I unexpectedly (after months of stalking all resale websites) came across a Bolide 35 in Ardennes from 1998 listed in excellent condition. I thought to myself, the odds of a truly excellent condition for a 25 year old bag are super slim, but hey, I can return if it doesn't work out. And now I find myself looking at a pretty pristine bag except for some faint corner wear and light tarnish on the zipper, not knowing what to do. I did not expect to want to keep it! I was looking for a red slouchy 31 or 35, this was unexpected. Will Hermes service a bag this age if I wanted to spa it? I saw some folks anecdotally being refused...

Lovely Bolide!

Who was refused spa? H will spa anything that hasn't had treatment/repair from another source. I've taken in bags that are 65 years old.

Thank you! I don't actually think it needs a spa at the moment, but eventually. I have seen folks say they were told the bag is too old - and also folks who said they have taken really old vintage items and were serviced with excitement from the artisans who worked on them. This is just throwing a monkey wrench into my slouchy red bag budget :crybaby:not that I have seen any in the right shade of red recently.

This red swift has been sitting in Sotheby for months. Maybe waiting for you? :graucho: But it is a 31 though.

There’s a few reds from the Collector’s square as well but I am not sure where you are with regards to shipping and taxes and all that. Sotheby NY delivery is included in the price and I am based in Europe.

It's a gorgeous bag but I hear you on a lovely slouchy red!

There are some beautiful 31s on eBay from reputable sellers, in Rouge H and other reds. Also this 35 in Rouge Casaque (from Australia though) -in my experience 1stDibs is good with buyer protection, and sellers are almost always negotiable on price, 10-20%.

Thank you! I think Rouge Casque may be too bright - I was thinking of Rouge Garance or Rouge H...will definitely look!
Thank you for encouraging me!
