Ode to the bolide

This has been in my closet for quite some time; I'm more of a Rouge H girl and feared this was just too much intense RED for me to pull off on a regular basis. The smoosh is what kept it in the mix, I love a good smooshy clemence bag! And this recent heat wave has addled my brain enough to allow me to embrace that bright, bright red. (There's lots of things to ignore in this pic so just ignore them )

Hello, Bolide Lovers!

Would anyone be able to help describe this Bolide 1923 30 - but it seems that thede is an outside pocket which I have never seen before.

It is pre-loved, but I have never seen this style before, so I’m not quite sure.

This is the very model bag that brought me to H 2009. I have the original travel size in swift. It’s called 1923 Web Bolide, the Web refers to the pocket. The 1923 refers only to the shape, no strap, and I think has slightly shorter handles. The pure 1923 (with no pocket was relaunched later).

The original in 1923 created in 1923 and named the Bugatti, the height of Modern, Art Deco cool, was this shape but did not have the outside pocket. Bugatti got precious about the name so they renamed it the Bolide. Funnily enough Bugatti have a model now called the Bolide  how’s that for a oops? People got used to the 1930s reshape with a strap and nameplate, so I think H used the date not to confuse.

I know!! I'm thinking about the prices on a brand new PP, Barenia or toile/combo in a real size- no minis! But WOW! I'd just say "OK, guess I'm working a bit longer now!". And that's not even an SO, but a push, so even less likely.
And honestly, although I've never seen it IRL, the Volynka leather sounds amazing- but potentially heavy.
But SO swift.....

I was thinking about exotic panels back/front, leather handles and base, a bit like the Swift/alligator Plume I turned down 2014. Apparently, no exotic SOS this season so…

Volynka? were you just inside my head?!!! ...And I understand H is not making the 35 anymore, boo hoo. I find the 31 is just a bit too small; I need the smoosh  (but I'd get over that in a hurry for Volynka )

Volynka is not really that heavy, esp for smaller bags, I can imagine. I weighed my 40 cm Plume Volynka and it's just around 330 grams (11 ounces) heavier than a 35 Birkin in Clemence. (my Plume is 1.6 kg, 35 b in Clemence is 1.27)

If ever I see a Bolide 1923 (25 cm) in peau de porc I'm gonna lose my mind. That would be a perfect bag for me. (and my Kelly Toile aspirations would have to wait lol)

Volynka or PdP would be utterly TDF!!!!

I love my Bolides. My 1923 30 in Noir Novillo probably gets the most love. My small collection of 35s has been whittled to just one smooshy one (the most special color and one that doesn't at all overlap with any other bags, which is why the others tended to sit in the closet). And although the Secret doesn't get out that much I still love her to bits (and always love the reaction to my rotation of answers to the question of what I keep in the bottom compartment).

I would love to have another special version and hope the anniversary next year gives me that opportunity. If not no worries, I'm already blessed with Bolides!

Not 25 (did they ever make one) but I can definitely recommend PP for a Bolide. Mine (35) took me years and years to find, and through a ever-stylish friend. They are out there.

I’d be happy with a little Secret (I think they were 22cm(?)) either black ghw or Capicine phw. More my thing than a Mini Kelly or Pochette I tried a Gycine, not so much my colour but beautiful. Secret would really work for me as an evening bag.
