My Bolide 31 is my favorite bag. It’s all handmade and under-the-radar. I love that it can be handheld or shoulder carry.

Bolides don’t hold their resale value like many other H bags for some reason but if you want a beautiful everyday bag that you can enjoy for decades, one that has incredible craftsmanship and heritage (this was the first Hermes bag, and the very first handbag ever to have a zipper), then it’s a good investment!

Mini Bolide 1923 in Roze Azalee Evercolor. Just bought this last night at the Marina Bay Sands boutique.
Bolide 27 in Flamingo Epsom.
Bolide 31 in Turquoise Clemence.

(pardon the sleeping kitty - this was the best spot for lighting and he wouldn't move)

If you like the style and want a great value, you can find one in new condition for $5-6,000, about 30% less than the cost of a new one. That should help the “investment/resale” issue considerably. But in terms of a Bolide being a good investment as far as buying quality that lasts for decades, it is. I recently bought a 1997 Bolide that looks amazing and will continue to do so for at least another 25 years. I also just bought a 1956 Kelly that was definitely used and not babied, but is still in better condition than bags more than a quarter of its age. Plus you can take the bag back to Hermès to get it refreshed or repaired for the life of the bag, as long as no one else has worked on it. I have the Kelly in with them now. Can’t say that about any other premium brand except LV or maybe Gucci. Not even Chanel will do that and their bags cost about as much as H.

Searching on vain for the Perfect Match thread - could you possibly post a link? I can only find the thread closed in 2015 and the link on that last page just shows an error. Been searching various tPF H threads to no avail. Thank you so much in advance:-)

Random question - does anyone know whether a bambou bolide 31 is being produced ? I don’t know if it’s something I think is fabulous in my mind or whether it actually exists/ is being produced ..

Besides the one our fellow tPFer shared, I know they have also made their way into Hawaii. So it’s probably slowly coming in! Best to ask your SA keep an eye out for you & hope you get yours soon.

Agree that making your SA aware that you want to get one is the way to go! My SA got me the Halzan 25, Bolide 25, and the latest Casasellier H 31 bag as soon as they first get into the store because I was the first one looking for them.
