I think I would pick the black - my SA recently showed me black Kelly sellier in sombrero, and I absolutely loved it. You make a very good point that I have been wondering - although I clearly long for a Gold bag, does it have to be a Kelly? I have bleu nuit Bolide and black Evelyne sellier, which are in constant rotation, but I could get a more readily available bag in Gold in a style that is more under the radar and useable for me. I do think of the Kelly as a more formal bag and I do not intend to wear it to work, but I always think maybe I would wear a gold Kelly more than black because it would't seem as formal. I am sort of glad that it will come down to chance, and who knows, maybe I will end up with both one day - it is a shockingly slippery H slope!!! My collection has already grown this year with 2 more leather bracelets, the new Apple watch, 2 pairs of sandals and scarves plus a shawl!!

It's also a 35 (often referred to as 37). Blue Nuit is out of this world and also a great colour.
Both my H Bolides are, I also have dome-shape Gucci bags, 32 (dark red suede and leather- now 10 years old) and a 43 (aviation blue python/leather trim 6 yo). I only mention these non-H coz it's not I vote definitively for only 35s, certainly the 35 suits the best.
If all were laid out before me, I think a black K Sellier ghw would be my choice too, although had a RH came up first instead I would have taken it. I remember saying to my H SA, the only bag I really want is a black box Kelly Sellier with ghw (I know LOL on the only, that was 2009) I didn't over-think it, just came out my mouth and she put the order in - I have faith in my subconscious, which is why I asked you those questions.
Both a black and RH will look more formal and smart but I've seen Gold K Ss at horse shows and shopping and thought how appropriate and fabulous they look, would I take one out to dinner or to a wedding? I might, but I'd have to colour my outfit tonally so it looked the only poss choice and really meant.

My BB KS is a bit big for evening as it's a 32, it depends. I have a black croc Pullman, a Lady Clutch and an amazing bag with g & phw
I have black Sellier with ghw. I love it as it is easy for day or night. My SA highly recommended this configuration to me as he said that this was the most classic and also highly sought after with limit quantities

I am considering a BBK 32 Sellier ghw. I really want to buy it! My reservation is the hw. My daily jewelry is silver toned. The bag has ghw. I have a box Retourne K32 ghw. Mixing my jewelry hw with that does not bother me. I feel the Sellier has such an elegant, classic look, silver toned jewelry would ruin it
