Good point...I think it is from 98 or 99...I guess that would count as vintage? do you know when they started adding straps?
Most people start vintage at about 25 years - some say 20, some say 30 or more. (Antique is over 100 - I will be happy to be called antique myself at that age!)

While H has sold straps for Kellys for a long time, double rings were added in, I believe 2000 (Kelly II) and I believe that's also when straps became part of the package.
The bag sounds beautiful!

Thanks so much QF...I feel that we have very similar tastes. I love your kelly posted above!

:hugs: I remember your Graphite Birkin....I loved that bag from afar! You have amazing taste.

This Kelly is still probably my favorite bag. I feel so lucky to have her. And I rarely use her because she's so pristine.....but will never let her go. I'm glad I have a Box mini K now, and that bag I do use, although I'm still daunted by, say, putting it on a table when a waiter is slamming down drinks.
My 1952 K I am not afraid to use at all but she is more of an indie rock show/hipster restaurant Kelly :p

Ah that is so nice to say!
Love to see that indie rock show/hipster!! Bet you look so cool with it!

Ladies I saw a beautiful vintage box Kelly that is exactly the specs I want but is missing the strap. I know that it may take years if ever to get one from Hermes. I do love a canvas strap and I'm sure I can find a non Hermes that will match. Do you think I should grab it or wait? Would love your advice

No strap wouldn’t phase me, I do t really use the strap on my kelly as it is.

I decided today to clean, weather-guard, and condition my BBK 28 since it seems I have nothing but time these days. I used docride's Luxury Again products. Highly recommend them. I took the photos about 20-30 minutes apart so the lighting is a little different. However, I definitely notice a difference in shine. Maybe tomorrow I will tackle polishing...

The handle is pretty much a lost cause. From my (un)trained eye, I don't think any amount of cleaner and leather lotion will fix sticky, cracked handles.

I am not one who ties twillys (or other items) on their bag, but I think a twilly (actually a non-H twilly-like scarf) is called for in this situation to safeguard the handle.

Beautiful bag!

Have any of you ever gotten 'bubbles' on your bag from rain? Just curious as lots of people are afraid of box because they think that rain will forever damage the leather. I could see if you jumped in a pool with it or stood in a downpour for an hour or so, but seems if you are in the rain for a few minutes or a bit of water splashes on your bag when you are washing your hands, it wouldn't be a big problem. I love box leather and have had a few things and from time to time they did get a bit of water on them but I never had a problem. Just wondering if this is a bit of an urban myth....
So long story short, has it actually ever happened to you?
Clearly I have too much time on my hands. :)

It happened to my cousin. She was caught in the rain unexpectedly and dashed into a nearby store to wait out the rain. She wiped down the bag, but it still has the outline of blisters on one of the sides. I wonder if she somehow missed that area when dabbing it to dry?

I haven't seen any reveals of new box bags recently but maybe I've missed them? Has anyone received a box bag--birkin or kelly from the boutique recently? Would love to see!
I’m sure I‘ve seen Kelly offers this year (black Box), certainly Constance 18 (Rouge H and Black) which was posted recently. I don’t think I’ve come across Birkin offers on the forum this year :/
