Just seeing all these recent finds and acquisitions just reinforces what a fabulous leather box is: the patina imbues everything with a special richness - the reds and blues glow and black has an unsurpassed lustre.
It seems to suit Birkins more than other leathers.
Perhaps that is true of many styles.
Other than a special awareness of fingernails I don't find it to be the delicate flower than many would like us to believe. I used my briefcase throughout the winter without any problems.View attachment 5799093 perfectly said. Your briefcase is a dream!! ❤️ ❤️

Just was offered and bought a bag of my dreams. A black box B30 sellier (pictures posted in other threads). Now I want to brush up on taking care of this beautiful leather. I know I’ve seen discussions but can’t find them. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I thought @docride had said that these guidelines are no longer her current recommendations? Tagging to get her thoughts.

Agree

Tagging @docride . . . I thought she said no longer her current guidelines bc people were using too much product and not buffing nearly enough. . . perhaps she will tag us back here or in her Lazarus thread if she sees this.

@CTLover , all of my box leather is weather treated professionally by @docride (I’ve used both Hermes and @docride for spa). It is strictly at the discretion of Hermes whether to accept a bag for spa, and mine have never been rejected, but I can only speak as to my personal experience. My box can handle some rain (though I don’t bring them out intentionally in bad weather). Just a quick wipe, and dry in a safe place. There is no change to the leather finish or texture as far as I can see.

ETA: @CTLover, weathertreated professionally by @docride (my emphasis added). Since I use both H spa and @docride Spa, I take the risk should H spa ever reject any bag of mine for spa. I recommend that those who don’t want to take the risk, simply not treat their bags.

Just adding that box has been resilient for me. One of my pre loved box has been caught in more than I can count rainstorms since purchased. I have wiped the rain of on any occasion-and no damage. I dropped the bag off at spa - was accepted and is currently receiving an overhaul (I do not know if it was treated before by Hermes or other but Hermes accepted the bag).

My box B has 1 tiny rain blister from 1 drop that fell on it- still there— I didn’t wipe it down and it did damage my bag (bad is 2022 and has not been treated)

I would ❤️ an orange box with an orange box inside

How did you waterproof?

Do you mind sharing what colours in box are on offer? I’ve seen a few rouge H kellies on PF along with black, but nothing else.
The current colors in box are Black, Bleu Saphir, Rouge H, Brique, and Vert Fonce. Vert Foncé was produced in the smallest quantity for a particular event, but they have been trickling in stores outside France lately. I have only heard of thé Vert Foncé being produced for the Kelly with gold hardware. I definitely have my eyes set on a Vert Foncé, but I am unsure if it even is possible.

I was offered a Black and hinted to a Rouge H all in the Kelly 28 size. I find the mini Kelly to be too small, but was told that I could more easily get a mini Kelly in box in an array of colors.

Fun fact, I learned that out of 100 Birkin and Kelly produced, only 3 are made in heritage leathers.
