Ok barenia lovers... I'm distraught here... with my hands full of kids, I accidentally dropped my smooth barenia calvi in a puddle of dirty runoff water at my kid's school yesterday. I could post this in a leather-repair thread, but I think specifically barenia aficionados are more likely to be able to chime in.

In the moment, I didn't think much of it since I've accidentally gotten my calvi wet many times and just wiped it off and let it air dry, so I just immediately wiped the puddle water off, only to realize the water wasn't clean, it had a bunch of dirt in it, so my casual wipe-off effectively rubbed the dirt into the leather.

At that point I sorta panicked so I instantly (we're talking 30 second later) stuck my hand in some clean water and generously wiped both sides with plenty of fresh water, hoping to mitigate my previous error. Then when I got home (20min later), I used more clean water and a clean cotton towel to try to rub off some of the dirt. And this still seems to have made it worse.

All said, I've got 3 issues... I need your experienced help to see if/how I can remedy this... I adore patina, but really don't love marks like this!
1. there is one bad spot at the edge where I got the leather wet from both sides (when I stuck my finger into the calvi to hold it steady that finger was wet) and this polace shows a water ring
2. the "spine" oft he calvi also has water marks
3. in various places there are small very dark marks which are probably some kind of dirt (nothing seems to be sitting on top of the leather)

Advice please?

Try to get a damn (minimal moisture) microfiber cloth to remove the remaining dirt. Then leave it alone and let it dry. You can rub on the scratches later, not when it is wet. The watermarks, if any, will fade over time usually.

And I forgot to post here before. Do not get the inside of a Barenia bag or SLG wet. I hope you did not.
