I read reviews abt how barenia isn’t that perfect even when they are new from hermes. Are they referring to the running lines here n there across the leather? Just realized they r not called veins. Not sure what they are called. Liked diff tone of lines across the bag.

It really get scratches easily. One slight movement and a Finger nail scratch on the surface.

Striations are normal. Scratches depends on how heavily the bag is used.

New to me vintage Evelyne I in Barenia, and Calvi Pop with Orange Poppy Lining. So interesting to see new and old Fauve side by side.

This is a very old post, but it inspired me to get this Calvi - thank you for these photos! I'm finally toe-in-the-water - it's my "trial" barenia before jumping whole hog into a barenia bag. I joke with my DH that it's like someone getting a dog before having a kid ;)

@pillsandpurses Ditto! It was because of this forum that I ordered a barenia Calvi!

@lanit your Instagram post about your barenia beauties inspired me as well

Thank you all! I can't wait to see the patina develop!

Quick question to all your barenia experts re. "rubbing out" marks... on my first use yesterday it got a pretty deep mark. It was in my back pocket (nothing else in the pocket) and I sat on a park bench - must've sat on a little stone or something which caused the jean fabric to rub really hard on the calvi and sort of "scratch" into the leather. Kinda hard to describe but you can imagine I hope.... Now I'm not expecting this to be/stay perfect and not freaked out here (I need less perfection in my life and barenia is good for me!) I just want to best blend the mark in. I tried to rub it out and had some success just with my clean finger. My fingers however are pretty dry so I considered touching my face where I have a teensy bit of skin oil - however I don't want to leave an oil mark. Any tips to best rub this out? Is just literal consistent friction from dry non-oily fingertips enough?

I am not a twilly person at all, but I have a great fear of darkened handles on my 4 year old Barenia Birkin. So I got these twillies last year, but realized that I haven’t carried this bag ever since I put them on.
It took me a long time to find a design that was closest to Barenia color. But it still looks so busy to me.

Maybe instead of trying to “match” the Barenia, pick a Twilly in your fave happy color and design. The fauve color is such a wonderful neutral background almost any color will go well with it! That way it will make you happy every time you look at it. Personally I chose light pink and blues for my fauve Barenia fauborg. It is not the smooth Barenia, but I will attach pics so you can see the colors. The colors make me so happy. Hope you can enjoy your gorgeous bag!! It is stunning!

I have a 20-year-old Barenia Kelly that I got preloved ... I doubt the previous owner ever put a twilly on the handle. Both the bag and the handle have darkened over time. They match. I’d hate to have a patina’d bag with light handles, I think it would look a little odd. Your bag is going to patina over time, no matter what you do, so please just use it and enjoy! It’s a beautiful bag!
