QF, please don't get rid of that gorgeous thing!

you can always do what i did - get caught with my brand spanking new birkin out in a rain storm and a couple weeks later, accidentally get a gob of curry on the back. The soaking had no harm (i posted on both events a few pages back) and I sent the post Indian food debacle to H. The craftsperson accelerated the patina beautifully. I love this because the new barenia felt pale next to my other barenia which has the rich reddish tone. When I use my bag, i examine for light scuffing which happens no matter how careful one is... rubbing the area with a damp finger generally does the trick on the scuffs. A craftswoman once told me for barenia usually they just use water for cleaning, so there you go.

Hope this helps...

Haha it is raining here and I considered it :) My craftswoman told me this as well, that she uses water to clean Barenia (and a hair dryer to melt the whitish layer). I don't know why I'm having a conniption about the Barenia but I'm going to try to go enjoy it :p

That bag is gorgeous and looks great the more used it looks.

I have a question though since you have both a Clemence and Barenia 35, could you possibly weigh both and tell us how much each weighs? I love Barenia but remember picking up a HAC 32 and it was so heavy. Thanks and enjoy the bag!

I will! I was going to weigh a bunch of bags today anyway as I have them all out to photograph. My recollection is that the Barenia felt a little lighter but I will do actual weighing. I lift pretty heavy weights in the gym so my perception of what things weigh is generally a bit off.

Thanks hon, that's super helpful. I really appreciate it.

I remember I weighed my Clemence and Togo Kelly's in 32 and they were the same, but the box and swift lighter.

I doubt you will get oil stains on it, and honestly the same way we thought we couldn't use box and it is one of our favorites, I think it'll be the same with the Barenia. Go out and use it!!!!! The more used it will look, the chicer and hipper it'll be. A perfect Barenia is frankly boring ☺️

Hadn't thought of it in those terms, but I see your point & my first instinct was to Like[emoji1360]
How 'bout, "A new barenia bag is like a newborn baby, beautiful but you're also excited to see it get older!"

You said it better than me ;) I was just being playful. Barenia is simply gorgeous, new or old. I think Barenia lends itself to being used and when it looks used, it looks even better as it is a saddle leather that's meant to be used and look a little distressed, whereas many other leathers don't particularly look better when they show signs of use. However, every time I see a Barenia that has been well used, it looks gorgeous. I guess that's the patina everyone talks about

Barenia is an intrepid-eur's bag.

My barenia and I waddled out into an ice storm today. City is shut down but I needed a capuccino and eggs!

Since I am otherwise shut in and don't want to spend the entire day shopping online, will attempt to rewrap my twillies. My lovely sa did the first round and they are now unraveling and look a bit sad.

My barenia is a magnet for incidents that never happen to my other bags. I've come to terms with this even though I fundamentally knew it would happen. It took a little more effort than I thought it would!!!! :whut:

I know my Barenia will look fabulous after wear, I think it has just exceeded my comfort level for H pricing. Once the B35 hit $12K I was starting to choke on it a bit. Passing $14K is high to me fora non-exotic bag. I'm in an "editing" mood so onceI am done editing I'll know if the Barenia B fits in :flowers:

It helped me to try Barenia out preloved in a less expensive bag like a picotin, Trim and Evelyn. After I came to grips with how it wears I was ready to invest in a new Halzan. Yes it took about of week of careful obsessing as it was my first new Barenia, but after a few weeks I let go and just started to enjoy it's beautiful smell and color. I still protect it from rain though. When I read posters asking how to escalate the patina on their bags, it drive me nuts. Enjoying the individual use and patina process is part of the appreciation of having Barenia. It is as if people want to attain the look of a rich patina without enjoying the process of using it to its fullest attributes. i hope h will continue to offer Barenia leathers as it has now become so rare. It is a testament to the longevity of this leather when Barenia bags are still around after twenty years.

Thank you lanit, that helps <3 It is true, this bag will be beautiful when my daughter is grown (and she isn't even conceived yet :p)!

Ladies is it true that Hermes doesn't offer barenia in bags for the past two years?? Apparently that's s what my SA told me. Can anyone confirm this ?

I purchased a Barenia Birkin 25cm last month. I was offered this very same bag back in 2009 or 2010. However I passed on it and regretted it ever since. So I was extremely shocked and surprised to get the offer again last month, since I know how rare these seem to be. I feel very fortunate :)

What a stunning combo. Major congratulations. This is very interesting. I think it maybe close to impossible to find in 40? I have been on the hunt for it for a while. So far no luck.
