It helped me to try Barenia out preloved in a less expensive bag like a picotin, Trim and Evelyn. After I came to grips with how it wears I was ready to invest in a new Halzan. Yes it took about of week of careful obsessing as it was my first new Barenia, but after a few weeks I let go and just started to enjoy it's beautiful smell and color. I still protect it from rain though. When I read posters asking how to escalate the patina on their bags, it drive me nuts. Enjoying the individual use and patina process is part of the appreciation of having Barenia. It is as if people want to attain the look of a rich patina without enjoying the process of using it to its fullest attributes. i hope h will continue to offer Barenia leathers as it has now become so rare. It is a testament to the longevity of this leather when Barenia bags are still around after twenty years.
Good point about trying out preloved B. (That's the only kind I have.)

Your Halzan is sooooo pretty. What about rain? My B Christine got completely soaked in a downpour, but recovered beautifully once I got back to my car. Because I had to drive and could not obsess about it, it dried out just fine, LOL.

Maybe . Gold is running too. Matte black and Barenia are the best do they come in often at the flagship?

No, matte "Barenia" croc is quite rare even at that store and personally I haven't seen matte black come in (not that I am on the list for that :p) . They get shiny croc much more often.

I can totally see the allure of black barenia. I got my new barenia B30 last month and am having a hard time coming to grips with handle darkening. I'm wondering what others have done? I am not a super fan of the twilly. I have used one on my Gris T kelly handle to protect from handling but something feels wrong about covering barenia. I tried some on in store with my SA and the look seemed off to me.

In my eyes, the beauty of barenia is meant to be appreciated in its naked, natural state. But I really don't want dark brown handles. Any one care to share their thoughts? I might have to cave and pick some twillys and find some way to tie them so the tails don't hang down. Ugh...the problems of H haha!! A black barenia would solve this whole issue [emoji4]

I was in the Delvaux section at Dover Street Market recently and they have a bag (I think the East West Brillant?) that comes with a suede-wrapped handle - it's exactly like a twilly wrap but it's suede or faux suede and not meant to be removed. I snapped a pic which I'll upload if I can ever find it ;-) I'm going to try either that, strips of neutral suede or leather, or a wide grosgrain ribbon on my Barenia handles instead of a twilly. I think it will be cleaner.
