What do Barenia owners use to clean, condition (& try to minimize stains) their leather?
I emailed Docride also about using one of her kits
Thanks

I use the Hermes baume every three or four years. It really doesn't need much. Barenia is oil tanned, and unless you live in a really dry climate, you don't need to do anything to it. You could take the added step of using saddle soap on it before the baume, but only if it's super dirty. And it will mark and get darker over time so not sure if the qualifies as a "stain" but there isn't anything you can or really should try to do to "seal" the leather.

Thank you Mistikat!!!

I want to take special care of it
I appreciate the quick reply[emoji4][emoji4][emoji4]

My DH is always scolding me for not Wrapping my h bags when we are out at restaurants

Simply have never had an issue.... Until last week

IMG_1482546009.578980.jpg

Went to My favorite restaurant with my new barenia... Later while I was happily walking around, I noticed a big blotch of something delicious on my Birkin.

Luckily I got her to h...

Now, A week later, I love my bag even more as the "washing" process created full and gorgeous patina. Not matte feeling as she was fresh out of the box, and a darker red hue

And again, I am not paranoid but careful and have never had any other bag-hap[emoji3].... Am constantly amazed by this leather

You must have been heartbroken when you saw the stain. Your bag looks amazing! The stain is almost gone!! Thank you for sharing this encouraging experience. I'm new to Barenia & love the leather, however a little nervous about how to care for my bag.

WOW, but then again I'm not surprised. I ever had curry spilled on a barenia piece and it cleaned up real good. A few weeks later, the stain was almost completely unnoticeable.

That's amazing! I always thought the stain is not reversible once oil gets on it but so glad to know it can be. And it only took a week? Sigh. I took a vintage lizard Constance in and was given a quote of 6-8 weeks, I can't imagine how long it would take if I took my barenia birkin in!

Keren - I was definitely bummed but barenia also is very forgiving. I may not be explaining correctly but the patina hides a lot of use sins. This is the beauty of barenia. Don't be afraid to use her and she really should not require any special care as others have said.

Lol - mine was a curry based thing too. I love the buffet at this Indian restaurant... It was a bit of bad karma as I was having a sneak away weekend that I didn't tell DH about nor do I ever bring DH to this restaurant as he can't take the spices and was therefore NOT there to wrap my bag! My own fault for gluttony, but the food is so good!

This was definitely an oil spot. I think the key was getting it to h immediately. They first tried just using powder to get the spot off but it was so bad "washing" was required. I assume the powder was something like when you spill red wine on a rug you pour a pile of table salt to draw out the color. I DON'T know what the exact process used for my bag but the craftspeople really know their stuff.

In my case, my sa was also taking pity on me because she knew my DH did not know about the issue [emoji41] and it just worked out. The combo of bad gods, a great crafts person and an even better sa did the trick.[emoji898][emoji898][emoji898][emoji898]

And this is why I love h[emoji3]

If the owner asked for foil stamping, then yes on the Birkin.
But Sandia Exchange is a reputable seller, and if that is indeed hers, you can trust her reply to your queries.

Thanks for the reply! Sadia exchange is definitely a reputable selling, have gotten a wonderful bearn wallet from her before. Just that I never though barenia would have the foiled stamping [emoji16]

You are correct, on a Birkin. But my point was, if you ask her why this bag has the foil stamp it will prompt her to recheck that it's barenia, and if it is perhaps she knows more about the provenance/reason for it. Good luck - that's appears to be a wonderful bag!
