NYC Fall 2013 Sale

A theory: Hermes doesn't need or want to sell discount merchandise anymore, so they are dumbing down the sales deliberately. No new merchandise is being brought in for sales and we will see the same sad, shopworn pieces over and over until no one comes at all and the sales stop entirely. Okay, that was a bit bathetic, but I do think Hermes is going to stop holding these sales in the near future. Right now, Hermes sells itself, at full price, to the point that many items are actually impossible to find. Why the heck would they want to hold sales? They don't need the revenue or the publicity.
Ah, the good old days are gone.

I think you're right.

That is just. . . weird. Or false. Weird or false. There were some furs among the RTW, so I suppose the coat is possible, but large pieces of furniture? Really? Was there a secret back room for the VVVIPs? (I wouldn't put it past Hermes to do such a thing, actually. . . )

While I totally agree that as Hermes sales go, this one sucked scissors, I will say (just to be annoyingly positive) that the Soiffer Haskins staff was extremely nice, and I did find a cool, ridiculously luxurious cashmere/leather sweater for my DH, and a sort of moto-inspired black deerskin jacket and a pair of camel, low-heeled boots for me (that, remarkably, fit my chunky--er, athletic--calves). None of which I would ever have even considered purchasing at full retail, so I left content. But it was a total bust for leather goods (not only no bags, but no SLGs, no belts, almost no gloves, jeepers) and a complete disaster for scarfies. I am sorry, scarfies, because you are an awesome bunch, and Hermes owes you a spectacular sale. Seriously.

This sale was a major disappointment. It was my first time attending but I didn't see anything I wanted. I left empty handed.

Just in case anyone is still planning on going I just left and the line is still almost the entire block! View attachment 2337161

DID not think the NYC sale would be as good as the BH sale..

Might consider flying out to LA next year & make a week of it..

Nope! The line means nothing! ! ! There was nothing more than already reported. Some nice pieces in RTW - but like a leather coat for still 18000$ after the 50% off!

I *sort of* lucked out and found a mohair hoodie (black outside, yellow inside) and a cardigan with an accompanying scarf. Which brings me to my puzzle, which I hope someone here can shed light on.

They said that they weren't *allowed* to have Scarves or Belts or Jewelry. They sort of panicked when they saw the scarf on the cardigan and tried to take it away! But luckily the tag said - two piece cardigan and scarf. Why would they not allowed to have scarves!?

ON TOP of this - I asked my SA for a little older enamel pattern, and she said they had already sent all of that style off to the sale! ! ! Sooo... where did they go!? Is there some sort of separate leather and jewelry sale!?

I'm a bit confused!

I believe the BH sale was great because it was in anticipation of moving to the new store. KOP had the same exact kind of sale a few years ago when it became a company store and moved to a new location.

In my experience, store sales (including BH) typically have RTW and maybe shoes. Not the kind of bags etc that the BH store had. Sadly, I think that this year the BH sale was a one-time deal. But I would love to be wrong. Maybe you have some inside info about future BH or NYC sales? If so, please share.

NY for the last several seasons has not lived up to what many have
expected & sorry to your dismay I do not have any inside info. If any
info was passed on to me confidentially, I certainly would respect that
source of information.

The BH sale sounded like it was an exception to the usual selection
of merchandise that has been available at most sales.

Many look for bags & more interesting H items... it seems H limited
the selection for the large NY market.. sorry to say

(also glad I didn't use my VIP invite...better to be slaving at work than standing in line only to be disappointed)

Glad I didn't use my VIP invite either. But I hope they don't stop sending them to me because I didn't use it.
