Can you imagine, a charter plane full of Hermes aficionados from all over the country/world, descending on Houston? The boutique would look like a plague of locusts had hit it.

I am going to chime in, this topic seems to have many heated, so please don't jump down my throat! I had a great time at the sale, it was FAR from an awful experience. I got a holy grail pair of shoes I had been lusting since they were released and I missed out on my size at the time. So finding them pristine, lizard with the CITES and 50% off was fabulous. The wait was pretty short on the private sale day as we were let in early, and all the ladies in line were fun, plus the weather was lovely and sunny. If everyone here wasnt so negative about the day, I would have thought it was a success!

Yes, there was no home, no ties, no scarves, no bags. I guess my expectations of Hermes sale goods is different than other people's as it was my first sale. Do I think Hermes 'owes' it to their VIP's to have a great selection at the sale? No way, I would rather they sell out of the good stuff at retail price, this is precisely the reason all of our beloved items have such great resale values. What do I think Hermes owes us? Better customer service, more special events, complimentary dinners, things to enhance the existing buying experience.

Would it have been incredible to find a Clutch or home porcelain tray? Yes, but I still think it was a great day, filled with lots of fun ladies, surrounded by orange boxes. Life could be worse!

I hope this doesn't upset anyone, I just wanted to add a different perspective.

LamborghiniGirl, nobody better be mad at you for being positive and appreciative! I had posted that I had fun and found some goodies, too. As I had also posted, the sad part is that there just aren't as many really affordable items as there used to be, so the sale is not as--oh, ********ic isn't the right word, but I'm sure YKWIM.

ETA: Accessible? Equitable? Egalitarian? I'm in there pitchin'.

Ladies, I am trying to fix the quote situation, its a bit time consuming so bear with.

some of the code dropped off the end quote tag way upstream, so trying to put it together.

:sunshine:

No worries, CBlu! Thanks!

No problem :wlae:

I think I got it done. Carry on the banter :p

Here are some refreshments.

What would have been nice is if the inventory that was available at BH would have
been available at the NYC sale.. Because a store is relocating or
remodeling, the inventory should be fairly distributed. Would think NYC
has a bigger market than BH???

I rememeber when H used to have their sales on E57th st before they move
to the Madison Ave location & they were chock full of goodies & surprises &
yes, we all would wait for a long time to get in but it was well worth the wait &
so many nice people to meet!!

The sales have been disappointing & the prices have discouraged many...

Just want to chime in about the BH sale vs NYC. The thing that gets me in general, is that even at 50% off the regular price, these things are not cheap. They had boxes of small leather goods, i.e. eye glass cases, little zip pieces, small agendas etc and the pieces were all jumbled up in a box! It was like Filenes's basement, Kleins or Mays or Alexanders to drop a few names from the long ago past. Rooting around a box to pay $400-500 for something just boggled my mind. The ties were nicely laid out and a nice young man kept them in order. The enamels were thrown out just like the small leather pieces. The bags were total rejects for the most part and scratched and/or damaged. The RTW looked like it was from 5+ years ago and had no hanger appeal. Bottom line, is that as an Hermes sale, I guess it was better than the NYC sale, but it wasn't great. Do I think it was worth a plane trip, for those that did it, the answer is no. I don't think that any sale in the future will be that good, unless they are moving into a new store and want to unload things before the move.

If this was the first NYC Hermes sale for anyone, here are

This was an amazing sale. Sigh, the good old days. Once it moved to haskin, it changed.

I was so sad hearing about this sale, I just didn't go at all. Could not make myself relive the disappointment in person.

Thanks ladies for all your info, you saved me an afternoon of drowning my pain in vodka

Sorry for being ignorant but what is SA and how do you get an invite?

SA = Sales associate

And only an SA can put your name on the invite list. Each SA has a limited number of names they can add to the list so it depends on your SA to see if she/he will add you to the list.
