NYC Fall 2013 Sale

I'm not in NY and I'm glad I didn't fly up for the (non)occasion, but Corfou sandals at half price would be worth a look. Everything else looks depressing, much of it looks like items from years past.

Where do sale leftovers go to die? Do they end up at the goodwill, or on some "deal" site like gilt or bluefly?

A theory: Hermes doesn't need or want to sell discount merchandise anymore, so they are dumbing down the sales deliberately. No new merchandise is being brought in for sales and we will see the same sad, shopworn pieces over and over until no one comes at all and the sales stop entirely. Okay, that was a bit bathetic, but I do think Hermes is going to stop holding these sales in the near future. Right now, Hermes sells itself, at full price, to the point that many items are actually impossible to find. Why the heck would they want to hold sales? They don't need the revenue or the publicity.
Ah, the good old days are gone.

I have to admit, cheeseball and all, meeting other tpfers was the highlight of the whole experience!

I agree! I didn't get to meet as many of you as I would have liked, and those that I did meet, I did not ask your TPF name, lol. So I still have no idea whom I met :p
I had a lovely lunch with a few scarf lovers and then we went to the boutique where I found a shawl that made up for the disappointing sale. At the sale I found the black patent Carlina flats and a gorgeous pair of gloves. So all in all a great day even though the sale wasn't great.

They get put back in the warehouse and come out at the next Hermes sale.
