NY Spring 2010 Sale?

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

please check prices against what is marked and what it rings up - I had things rung up incorrectly this am because I think the computer may revert to an increase price for the base price if there was a price increase at the store

Wow, such fun to see all of the wonderful treasures. Is it my imagination, or is the selection of bags available at the sale dramatically improving from sale to sale? When I first started reading about the sales, there were usually no leather bags available at all.

Baglady, I was struck by your post and feel compelled to raise a couple of points. Given the large number of TPFers who mentioned being in the forward section of the line, I assume that you may well have been talking about fellow TPFers in your post. In fact, I know that several of my fellow long-time collectors of H were at the sale, got in early, and most of all were kind enough to carry with them lists of things that others of us were searching for. I live in California and am not able to get to the sales, yet because of the kindness of my fellow collectors, I, too have been able to participate as items from my "wish list" are sent to me. My friends are not re-sellers, they do this as a kindness and I pay them what the items cost. They don't profit from this at all, and I - and the others they shop for - are so grateful for their kindness.

Had I been fortunate to go to the sale personally, you would not have found me in khaki pants - can't stand them! You would, however, have found me in comfy black pants with comfortable shoes. Oh, and yes, I am also middle-aged. Not sure what you consider the "typical Hermes customer" to look like - I try not to judge by appearance.

Sorry you couldn't find what you were looking for. Maybe shopping at full retail with the typical Hermes customer is a better way for you to go in the future.

If memory serves, the TPM pompoms were something like $42 or possibly even half of that (one of the TPM tags caught my attention because it had $75 crossed out and $42 written in red). You may spend more on your round trip than you would on the pompoms.

That was the tray where I had my experience with the hoarder. I tried sifting through what I could reach behind her pile, but she actually started to nudge me out and I wasn't about to take a shoulder to a soft spot. I just abandoned that ship.

*snifflesniffsniffleSOB* Yes, please. I've scooted over and there's now room in my dryer for your head too. We can sob together. And plot. Because I am SOOOO NOT missing another one of these.

Thanks for being so accomdating with that dryer, gga. And, I'm not missing another of those sales either. I'll see you in NYC next March! :p

Despite hearing about the elbow nudges and swarms of hoarders, these sales seem like a blast! Congrats to everyone who has attended and scored such great deals, I think I'll try to make it to the next one in sept.

Oh good - I will finally get to meet you 'cause I'm definitely not missing another one either. Skootch over G - make room in that dryer for my head too.

And the next one is August or September, right?

You won't have to wait that long Lily!! The next one is only 6 months away in Sept!!:graucho: Take me take me please!!:p

I knew there was another one coming at some point, boo (may not have enough money saved by then!:p)

What's everyone's opinion who has experience - is the March sale the bigger of the two or are they similar in scope and quantity of merchandise available?

Oh, boy, irish - great news. I think we have pamella and maybe tillie and shelby set to join in the fun too, and of course, LGA will be right there holding a place in line for us.

Hey, fly into Atlanta the night before, stay at my house, and we'll grab an early jet into LaGuardia the next morning. There's one taking off from the Atlanta airport about every 30 minutes!

I have to say, though there certainly is some rude behavior at the sales (and I do find some of the hoarding a bit nervy; if you haven't paid for it yet, it ain't yours) I have also been struck by the friendliness I've encountered. There was quite a bit of companionable chatter and laughter in the line as we waited (and waited and waited) to check out. And the incredible variety of shoppers--young and old, male and female, some tricked out in diamonds from head-to-toe and some in exercise gear, etc.--is part of the fun!

Yay - slumber party at lily's house!
