Not Sure How I Feel About New Business Model...

I'm excited to see how this will all play out. No outlet in my state now and I'm sure won't be in the future either, but that's ok! Right now I think their business plan is not a plan.....it's just a hodge podge of whatever..just sell it somewhere and that's just plain crazy. I will continue to buy a Coach bag in the future if I like it, just like I do now. I do think (and hope) that Coach is going for a more upscale, classy looking bag...look at the fall preview....seems to be an array of very nice looking bags! And not to offend anyone because I know there are a lot of LV lovers out there...but I wouldn't buy one if someone gave me the $ I don't get their appeal..but that's probably just me?!

I completely agree! I look of LV is lovely, but to pay $1K for coated canvas just doesn't compute in my mind.

If this is the direction Coach is going, MK, Dooney, Kate Spade and others will be loving it- snatching up all the customers!

I may have to finally start saving up for my HG Gucci :graucho:

I honestly think only time will tell what Coach is planning... do I think all of what was told to me is going to happen... NO..... but do I think changes are coming... YES

Guess the lucky thing for all the purse addict's there are many other brands to choose to buy if the possible direction Coach may or may not be taking happens..!

For me personally I don't mind paying $1K for a coated canvas bag when I walk into any high end consignment store and see a used one that is around 25 years old and it's still in good enough shape that they can price it at least 1/2 if not more of it's orig retail and it sells with no problems..!

Coach used to be about beautiful high quality leather and not coated canvas and logos everywhere. I'm assuming that if they start charging $1K for bags they will use the exceptional leather they used to be so famous for. At least I hope that's what they do.

I always thought that if they ever went back to the original quality they were known for they would have to start charging much more so maybe that's part of the plan?

While I can agree the quality is there, I also think the $500 sales price on a 25 yr old LV is because LV is a desired ultra-premier designer. So it holds its value because of the name. I still would have a hard time paying $500 for coated canvas.

My outlet already sells clothes, shoes and jewellery. (I picked up the glass leaf earrings I’ve been waiting for today at 50 off, yay!)

I would still buy Coach bags if they were only FP, but I sure wouldn't buy as many! So I'm solidly in the wait-and-see camp. Should be interesting!

I'm curious to know what you consider to be the angered loyal Coach consumer. Please share if you don't mind.

Ok, I see how that read... Slight typo, I meant to say with the new business model, if this goes according to the rumors, they might anger the Coach customers they have now, not that they already are angered.

Then again in some posts, some customers are angry and have said that Coach can double dip and send things to outlet that are still FP in the boutiques.

What I do know and how I feel is if they have an awesome line and it sold really well, then they should keep selling it while sending seasonal stuff to the outlet of marked down in sales. They should not make a MFF version of the same item and sell it for less after it has sold in the boutiques.

Does that clarify better? :smile1:

But if u think they hve diluted the product why do u contniue to purchase?

I am very picky about what I purchase. Coach in the day was always known for its fine leather goods. I prefer their leathers as I do not own anything they have that is signature. Some people love them and others not so much. It is just not my thing, no offense to anyone who loves the siggy line. I do not care for the of the items that were boutique sellers and good ones, which are now only MFF ones. Why not just continue to sell the FP ones even on sale rather than make the same bag MFF? A good example is the Sophia.

Yes and thank you. I don't mind the mff versions bc usually they're so obviously different but the Kristen line seems to be identical to Fp and I see myself with one or two of those.

Doesn't bother me either. Coach has been less and less appealing to me in the last few years. Bags are boring, old lady styles. I miss the old Poppy line. They used to have fun, collectible key fobs. All gone. There are TONS of other brands to choose from. If they want to be in the $1000 range thats too bad. For that money I'd rather get LV.

Come on, lol! You think every Coach bag is a "boring, old lady style?" Not one recent or current bag is attractive to you?

That's okay, I thought the old Poppy line was mostly cheap and cheesy. As they say here, horses for courses. :p

I do agree they don't have as many fun key fobs, though. I don't usually collect those fun ones but I can see how appealing they would be for others, they are fun to look at.
