Wow! What a hassle. I'm glad (and proud of you for being honest) that this has been resolved. It's unfortunate that their so-called FINANCE group can't even do the simplest MATH problem and instead put you through all this mess & headache. Perhaps they ought to re-take Accounting 101 once again to freshen up their math skill.

Anyhow, great job in resolving this mess! I applaud you

Hey Ladies! I received a gift from my friend and well its not something I would use, so I tried to return it at nordstrom rack, (so obviously I have no receipt), yet the salesperson would not even give me store credit. What gives?

when i went there a few months ago they were telling every single customer who was checking out that if they want to return something they need tags and receipt within 30 days...so i'm guessing their return policy has changed

Nord Rack is cracking down on its returns. If you have a receipt + tags attached, and it's a bit over the 30-day mark, they'll still give you a refund. The key now is showing proof of purchase. It can be done w/o a receipt, depending if a few associates know you (yes, I shop there enough to have established some rapport). :blushing: In my case, I couldn't for the life of me find my gift receipt, and they are familiar with my buying history that they processed the return w/o any issues. ;)

They definitely are cracking down on returns at NR. I once returned a few items that did not fit correctly. It had been over 30 days and I didn't have the receipt, but the supervisor recognized me as a regular customer so she gave me a store credit. I was very appreciative; since then I have made sure to keep my receipts and return within the 30-day window.

How does the Rack handle items that don't meet expectations (material wearing out too quickly), etc? I love the regular Nordstroms because they are so good about customer satisfaction but I'm guessing the Rack is not so, is that right? I understand since their prices are lower. Just wanted to make sure. TIA!

i received a bag as a present. (a thank you gift for helping someone out) Im not sure about the return policy but have heard good things. i received a kate spade purse and if im reading the receipt sticker correctly it says it was purchased in2004. the tags are on it, it has NOT been used and when i called customer service they said bring it back but i wasnt sure what anyone's thoughts on this was? i feel guilty but it is a 175.00 bag. i could put that towards another bag.

What do you mean about the "receipt sticker"? Do you mean nordstrom's own shank barcode sticker that's placed on an item's price tag? I don't think the year is noted on those stickers. :shrugs:

Granted, even if it's a 2004 bag, you didn't use it. If the bag really is that old, then that bag will either be filtered over to Nord Rack or to Last Call. It's too old to sell on the floor at nordstrom.

You should be fine w/your bag return though since you have proof of purchase. Nordstrom does have one of the most lenient return policies out there.

If you didn't provide proof of purchase, then nordstrom would refund you the current selling price (which would be mighty, mighty low, if your 2004 figure is accurate). The other option if you didn't have proof of purchase is an outright refusal to process the refund. Although people say you can take anything back to nordstrom, that is becoming less and less true. I have seen managers refusing to honor returns, esp. from high-end departments (savvy and tbd). There is just a lot of retail return abuse. Thank goodness nordstrom is cracking down.

I am sure that Nordstroms will take it and refund you. They are that good to their customers.

But IMHO, if it were me would be ashamed and would not return something of 6 years ago. I would feel it seems dishonest and shameless.

Nordstroms will refund it if you have some type of proof of purchase. It is up to you if you want to proceed but if you do I'd at least be very loyal to them in the future as a customer.
