Wow, I had no idea they layed off people. I remember they asked my store manager (and a few other higher ups at different times) to step down from her position. She left the company unfortunately. Which is understandable. I mean, how do you expect an Employee to go from Store Manager to regular associate? But I always knew that the company wasn't doing so well. Every year, when we'd look at the numbers, it would just decrease by the year. We were nowhere close to making our goal. I guess it's a nationwide issue /:

Hi there! I am new to the Purse Forum and I just had a recent experience at Nordstrom and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced it:
I am a level 4 Nordstrom retail cardholder and prefer to pay off my Nordstrom card immediately after I make an online or in-store purchase. This has always been fine because if I do decide to return any items, I can put the money back on my debit card and then it evens itself out. Today I was at my local Nordstrom and wanted to return 2 unused items totaling approximately $100 onto my debit card, and they would not let me. I explained to them that I had already paid off my Nordstrom card and would prefer not to have extra money on it, but the SA told me that they implemented a new policy and now no longer give customers the option of returning onto different methods of payment. I would understand if they implemented a new no cash back policy, and I even sort of understand this new policy. I just wish I was notified of it before I payed off my Nordstrom credit card. If they change their return policy, shouldn't Nordstrom send out an email or something to their cardholders? I understand switching methods of payment is a little sketchy, but I always carry around my Nordstrom card so they can see my returns are really my items and that I did not steal them. I asked the SA about receiving items as gifts, but he said even then it has to go back onto the original card. This makes it much less practical for me to give gifts from Nordstrom. Has anyone else heard of this new policy? Apparently it started April 25th.

Yes! I just went in to return a purchase.. A 450.00 purchase.. It was bought on a 500.00 visa gift card I had got from work... The sa had thrown away my gift card because there was no more money on it.. No problem. Until I had to return the sun glasses. (The plastic was hurting my nose) I have never had a problem with Nordstrom till now... I no longer had the visa gift card so all they would give was store credit. That gift card was as good as cash and now I can only spend it in Nordstroms. I shop there almost daily, love the store but it definitely put a bad taste in my mouth!

I feel like I got lucky after reading the last few posts here. I made a purchase online paid mostly by gift card and like $20-30 on my Nordie card. I didn't like the shoes I got so went to return them. I was expecting to get another gift card back since that was the main form of payment. They put the whole refund on my Nordie card. I wouldn't have minded another gift card I'd surely use it.

I also just returned some leggings I bought last year. I was cleaning and found them in the box they came in. When I got them they were too tight and I've lost weight since and now they're too big. Yeah for thier good return policy. [emoji1]

I was kinda mad the other day when I bought a pair of rag and bone jeans at Nordstrom rack. I know they are last years style or whatever but I do expect them to be new condition. Or at least stated otherwise. I got them home and looked them up online to see how they were suppose to look.. I was so mad when I saw the same style jeans online had no holes in them and mine had holes in the knees!!! What the heck! It was like someone wanted holes in their new jeans, so they did it themselves but decided to return them anyways after they wasted a good pair of jeans. The person at Nordstroms didn't catch the holes in the jeans and took them back with the thought of reselling them!! If I didn't look up the style online I would have never known. I took them back and of course they didn't have another pair to replace them. I'm mad that some idiot thought it was ok to return an altered item. I'm mad that Nordstroms let that slide through. I'm mad that i thought I was getting a good out of jeans, but now it turns out they are altered. I did get them on sale so I don't know if I should return them or just keep them. But I didn't think Nordstroms had better quality control than that!! Any advice? I feel like writing an email to a higher up and telling them what happened..

Old Nordstrom employee here [emoji112]🏾. A lot of employees nicknamed Nordstrom the "Rent-a-Center" because of how badly (and I mean BAD) people abused the return policy. I know for my old dept (Kidswear) we would have people (many at that) spend thousands on new school clothes, communion, suits, and just everyday pieces, wear them all year, and return them because "they out grew it" or some bs excuse. It was ridiculously hard to keep up with what's been used vs what's still sellable. It got to the point where I would just damage out everything so no one would buy someone's worn pieces. And still to this day whenever I shop at Nordstrom I request it from the stock room so I know it hasn't been in someone's washer and dryer multiple times. Just my $0.02

Hmm wow I will keep that in mind! I never knew they would allow used stuff to come bac on the floor! What a horrible service to people. People who have no idea that the clothes they are buying are used and abused! I always inspect my items before I check out at every store I shop at. But I always expect them to be new! When I bought those jeans I just figured the holes were part of the jeans. Never thought Nordstroms would let that kinda thing slide!! I guess I underestimated them! Thank you for your two cents:)

Return them and let corporate know! They need to be checking for that kind of thing!

Yep I think I will. I'm just so surprised that this type of thing would happen! I trusted Nordies.. I also bought a charisonic at the rack. I took it out of the box and went to charge it for the first time and it already had a full charge!! It was like someone charged it and then returned it, and they just it out in the floor!?! Horrible!!

Honestly people that mainly shopped at Nordstrom knew how to manipulate the system. I've seen it all, people washing their clothes and getting one of those ticket guns from Michaels to put the price tag back on to those who asked for clothes to be altered, wore them, and released the hem to make it look like it was never worn / altered to begin with. And then there were those who walked around with a plastic bag full of price tags and matching what they wanted to return with the removed price tag. The handbag department was horrible though, women would wear a bag for a while, get it repaired and then return it. It was sick because it happened so frequently. I worked there up until this past February, so happy to be out of retail [emoji5]

Ugh that just puts me off of buying at Nordies. Cuz I bet there are some SA who wouldn't damage items out, and would put those items back for sale.

How can outgrew it be a reason for return? They really need to rethink the returns now.

They really do! Because on one point they have loyal customers who like Nordies because of their return program. But they also are losing customers because of the stuff like what happened to me.. Because the quality of the stuff they are putting out is lower quality because they are trying to resell stuff that people returned! So unfair!! I think they are getting better on their policy. They always want a recipt or tag to take the return. You could never return something that didn't even come from Nordies. That is unbelievable! I think they should do you have the current season that you bought the item in to return it (i.e. If you bought it in summer, return at the end of summer) or you have a fiscal year to return it (if you buy something in november 2015 you have to return it by November 2016. That is more than enough time. For handbags there should be a 10-15 day return policy. That is more than enough time to see if you like a purse. The only exception would be if there is something defectively wrong with the item (like a handle break or something). But hen it should be like a store credit. So you can't take the money and apply it elsewhere. If I have something defective I want to exchange it for something better.. But I do agree, when I pay a lot of money for something I do want the quality to be there otherwise I don't want to waste my money on it.. That is what Nordies should stand for. Making sure you are happy with the quality of your purchase!

The only thing I could see is if you lost a lot of weight and the jeans no longer fit. But that is not Nordies problem! There was nothing wrong with their item... They want you to beg spot with your purchase. But there are enough resale places to sell your clothes these days that you don't need to return stuff...

I think you are expecting WAY too much from some people who work in retail and especially at the RACK.

They make what, 10 bucks an hour? And they hire a lot of teens and honestly a lot of them that work at the Rack don't know a lot about fashion. They are not working in Collectors at the regular line to know what St John looks like or what its SUPPOSE to look like.

So I alway research every purchase at ANY outlet not just the RACK. And eBay. But to expect someone to know the ins and outs of everything fashion when they might not be interested in it, or the store doesnt teach them or they just don't know is a bit ridiculous.
I know full line teaches the staff the line depending where you are located, and what lines your dept carries but the rack rarely. If they learn anything its on their own.

Even if you go to the full line asking a SA in mens suits they probably won't know rag and bone jeans from hudson unless they are a stylist.

Speaking of returns! I was so excited yo score a pair of MCM slip ons on sale at Nordstrom. But when the package arrived I opened it and saw this...

I was PISSED. I took it back to my local Nordstrom and they called the store it shipped out from. Apparently someone returned two right shoes but in TWO different sizes. First of all, shouldn't they check if it's a matching pair before accepting the return? Also, shouldn't the next associate check the pair before shipping it out? [emoji35] sadly there were no other pairs in the system. So someone is out there with two left shoes in a 36 and 37..LOL
