It’s been suede booties, long cardigans, and camis, with those BlankNYC jackets thrown in....for maybe 3 years running. They know it too, bc those items are now available in like 8 colors each, whereas in previous years they would offer 2-3 colors. TPFers have always been good at predicting the hot items of the sale too, which is funny. It’s not a challenge anymore though, just copy/paste last year.

It's the same look every anniversary sale, you hit the nail on the head. The "hot" items always seem to be the same thing in all honesty. Last year it was a boyfriend cardi in oatmeal, now it's a long cardi in leopard. Now there's silk camis by 3 different brands to cover 3 different price ranges. They get less and less outside brands, so Nordstrom just expands upon their own brands and offers the same thing in each one, with each brand's "twist" on said item. The BP leopard cardi is obviously a less refined look than the Caslon leopard cardi, but all of them are Nordstrom brands.

I don't follow fashion bloggers for anything as I just buy what I like, but when the items this year are so basic, why do I need a fashion blogger to show me how to style jeans, a long cardigan, and a t-shirt together? Oh and the booties, can't forget those...

To be fair, this look is “very stylish” to the average American. And we here, of course, are WAY cooler than average in our fashion taste and probably not the target demo of these bloggers :cool::P:smartass:

I'm doing a virtual fitting room session with my SA. This should be interesting. I sent her a list of things that I had interest. She will pull them and some recommendations and we will talk it through over face time. She will ship me what I choose.
Cool! I’m giggling picturing a dressing room full of SAs talking to themselves with no actual customers present lol

Don't get me wrong, I like the style, but I don't know why anyone would need a blogger how to show them to put those items together? Unless the blogger is putting the shirt over the cardigan and wearing the jeans as a hat. Then yeah, I could see the need for some instruction.

This video was just posted to YouTube. Looks like Anniversary Sale fashion show...has a ton of stuff we already know about, but also A LOT of designer stuff we haven’t seen. I’m so confused. I mean it’s got YSL, Valentino, Gucci items, accessories, shoes etc. I’m hoping these items will be part of the sale but really, who knows. There’s so much confusion this year.

Those Gucci pumps. Swoon.

I also feel like they choose quantity or quality, like you I buy what I like.

No THAT I would love to see. I think what upsets me the most is how most of the sale is, as was said before, in-house brands. But then they will throw in a $263 Vince sweater and plaster it on every page of the catalog. Can we not have some middle ground? And why, why, are most of the coats unlined? Someone pointed this out last year and it irks me. Very few people need a wool, but unlined, coat. And obviously the brand they have a deal with this year is Pendleton. It’s still a great sale if you know how to shop it, designer denim, athletic brands, intimates, cosmetics are the way to go. Saving $5 on a tee isn’t anything to get excited over.

And apologies for all my complaining, this is still a really really fun sale, especially with TPF, and I hope everyone who is shopping today has a blast! Can’t wait to see what you all find!

I think we all think it's fun and enjoy it, but that doesn't preclude us from voicing our issues with the sale. I wonder if Nordstrom can't get as many outside brands as they want to or if this is a conscious decision on their part to slowly focus more and more on in-house brands?

Oh totally. Bloggers are really something else.

I have a few non-obnoxious bloggers that I follow. They're mostly older, but I do follow one that I can't stand because she always gets first access to the goods. :amuse:

I don't necessarily follow them to learn how to style things, but just to actually SEE things. I live 4 hours from the nearest Nordstrom and 6 hours from a "good" Nordstrom so I rely on bloggers to show me the actual goods.
