i'm no longer "allowed" to return a purchase in the store; evidently i have bought/returned too many bags, so anything i want to return they said they must send back to JAX, even if i bought it right in the store from them. which means i'm no longer buying local; only online. i guess overall its a good thing, since i'm no longer popping into the local store to check out new bags!!! their loss.
That makes no sense! Have they lost their minds???

How is that possible? Is it the returns they have an issue with??

i guess so. i did do a fair number of returns in december, because i just couldnt decide which rogue i wanted size-wise. i guess that was BAD behavior and now i can no longer return anything in the store. its obvious i didnt use the bags, cuz they were still in pristine condition, and partially wrapped. i just couldnt decide what was going to work for me [since 90% of my bags are vintage coach, this was a momentous switch for me]. so it means i won't buy from them either. which means they've lost out on some juicy sales. oh well.

It's so stupid! I've been in the store and they encourage you to take things home if you can't make up your mind because you can always return it. A few years ago, I ordered the same bag three times from FOS because they kept coming in bad condition, and then they lowered the price. I returned the others. I really thought I was going to get banned then but I didn't.

I would send a letter to someone high up and ask exactly where in their policy does it say you cannot return a bag at the store location. I have called JAX myself asking for a label because of what you said before. They told me I can return to the store and it is a service they offer. I would go higher up and it should not reflect on you. I wasn't sure myself if the Rogue 39 would fit my laptop with a sleeve but didn't want to buy since I didn't want the hassle of returning. I'd look on their website about their policies and FAQs and ask exactly where does it say you can't return to the store???? I know now you can't return outlet bags to the retail location and vice versa but a store limiting your returns is ridiculous! I'd make it known to a higher level this is happening and should reflect poorly on the manager of that store or if coming from a district manager, then it should reflect poorly on them! Where does it say they can refuse to sell you something because they are afraid you will return it??? Really poor business practices and sounds discriminatory to me. No one wants to hire a lawyer for something like this but if you ARE a lawyer, they should be leery of doing this. Maybe they don't pick on lawyers! Now I have to go read their policies.

Now you have me worried that may be me in the future. I purchased two Rogue 39's in the sale in different colors thinking it would be a great business bag for me, but the size didn't work. I just returned one via UPS today, but the other I paid by PayPal (stupid, I have learned, but I wanted time to pay it off as even on sale they are expensive!) and so I was planning to return it to the store for credit. Now I'm wondering if I should just ask the store to ship it to the warehouse for me so I don't have to pay shipping, but they don't get dinged for the return either. Seriously, returns should not be that hard. I also spent $400 in the outlet last weekend, plus bought some other items at full price from the Dark Fairytale line, so I think they make plenty from me and probably most of us.

i've gone overboard this year. i think it's 'vintage' fatigue; i really really wanted some of the coach 1941 bags, but didnt know what would work for me. i bought a lot, but ended up keeping a good number of the bags, so overall it evened out. but now i wont step foot in the store (we have two actually in town) and will only buy online -- why would i even go to the store if i can only return through JAX!! i bought the rogue 39 in ivy which i love; and then bought the two rogue smooth leather ivy bags; and just this week ordered the 'dusty rose' bandit. those are all keepers, along with the smaller bandit i bought a while back. yeah i did return a number of bags over the past 6 months, but i had no idea that would ban me from ever returning in-store again!!! who knew, i learned a good lesson i guess.

At my old town, neither of the Kate Spade boutiques accepted returns, but ships them back to the warehouse. I've contacted customer service, and the agent was puzzled as she said customers can take online purchases back to any of the brick and mortar stores. Needless to say, I have not purchased much KS before, and certainly not in the stores. Just because it's the policy doesn't mean some will abide...and now I see the nearest Coach store is doing exactly that. Makes their physical locations basically useless; it's no different than shopping online!

My closest store now that's 2 1/2 hours away by car had not a single customer, but I would wager that's exactly because of the poor form they show in returns. The female SA that was there also was staring at everything like the world owed her a million bucks, so I'm sure that doesn't help either. Some locations need to relearn their customer service...

I buy from an SA or online and my items all ship from Jax and everything I return goes to Jax. Just waiting to receive a "ban" letter because buying sight unseen = a few returns. Oh well. Sorry Coach.
They don't want you reselling or returning. I'm not keeping something that is 1) flawed or 2) doesn't suit me in person! And if QC was all that (@Harley77 getting a sharky ornament when a tooled tea rose rogue was ordered) then there wouldn't be as many returns. I shouldn't have to order the same bag 3x to get one that isn't flawed.

If it is a retail item, you shouldn't have to pay for shipping. If you lost the return label usually sent with items shipped from the warehouse, I've called CS and they email me a UPS label. Coach Outlet will cost you to ship a return but Coach retail shouldn't. I don't know how the retail locations can get away with this.

All this makes you want to buy elsewhere like Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, etc. I need to stop buying period but hard to want to support their company when they treat you like a bad person!

I understand overall retail sales are down. I don't think people are buying like they used to or realize they have so much so don't buy any more. The world has become much more casual so you see the retailers that used to offer more professional clothing closing up. But then you see leisure wear growing! I don't like to walk around town with leggings and a hoodie but I'm more old school I guess. Jeans is casual enough. I know it is easier and more comfortable but I save it for exercise or working around the house.

I've been in Coach stores for a few hours playing with the bags/wallets and no one comes in! How do they make their quotas and make a living? Maybe they need less stores then so it isn't put on the customer that there aren't enough sales for the SA's to make a living! Then Coach can be the more exclusive brand they strive to be. Hard to carry their bag and want to advertise for them when they treat their good customers poorly. I won't go back to a store near me and rarely go to the other two. They seem mad when you don't purchase after looking at things for a while. Sometimes you OD and need to step back and think or you just wanted to see the newer collection to figure out what you may want to purchase or plan for. We all don't come with unlimited funding!

I've stopped buying in store for that very reason. When I used to shop at Coach more frequently, they always gave a hard time about returns so I quit Coach for awhile, then, recently started back up again when they came out with the Borough bags and the rogue collection. However, I only buy online and deal with returns that way. The SA's are too pushy when I am shopping in the store and snooty about returns.

Exactly! They get mad when you don't buy something and are just there to browse such that I've become phobic about going into a store sometimes. It's really frustrating. I just look online and when I am near a local store, I'll peak in and see if there are other customers there because if I'm the only one, they just swarm around me and try to sell me something and I can't shop in peace. I really only go in to look at the different bags. Then, I'll buy online if I see one I like.

Exactly. Then they wonder why their store sales are down??? You should be welcoming customers and want them to buy not hound them while they shop, give them an attitude when they want to return. They'll come back and buy something else but not the way they are treating their customers now!

I find the ones who aren't full-time to be the best at service and have less of an attitude. They aren't making the major part of their living working for Coach. The ones who do can be brutal. Sales is a pushy job but when you are a retail location and people make an effort to come to YOU and they like your product, you shouldn't push that hard because they will buy eventually. And the regular customers will keep coming back to you. I'm not sure what they don't get about human behavior! If my new SA didn't treat me well and help me find things I want, I'd be shopping online only, too. Who needs the hassle! I can return anything to Marshalls and no one asks why. They just take it back no matter how many times I come in! I know the cashiers aren't paid commissions which is a big difference but if Marshalls sold Coach, I'd be shopping there! I just don't need to be given the third degree why I'm returning.

I work with sales people all day and they will be the first to tell you they are selfish and self centered. Hits to their income hurt them the most. I probably offended sales people in this forum but I just call it as I see it. The ones I work with can be bullies and kick, cry and scream like babies. But in the end, management gives in to them to quiet them down. So then the behavior is perpetuated. Makes it not fun to do my job when I'm not supported in decisions. A sales driven organization is difficult to work for unless you are in sales.
